Get a freeware audio editor, Audacity (Mac) works and use it to open files like Word documents, Photoshop files etc. If it doesn't work like this, create a new project (Cmd+N) and do Project > Import Raw Data...

A lot of data just opens as white noise, but you come across some real gems so it's worth it! :)
This reminds me of a discussion that I had in an electronic music class years ago.

We were talking about copyright and the manipulation of different media.

Some guy had taken a photo of one of Van Gogh's paintings and digitized it. He then fed it through an audio editor and played the results.

Our discussion was whether this sound was still a Van Gogh piece because it was an interpretation of the exact same data or was it something completely different.

my laptop can't handle continuous 64th notes in battery, so i do that then map all of the controllers to my bcr for unpredictable glitch madness.

I've had a demo of Heinzbox for a while now and I can make really, really cool shit from it. However, the interface if fucking terrible so I can never replicate or understand thoroughly what I am doing. These guys could make a lot of money if the just tidied up and explained the fucking functions.

BTW, these glitchy sounds are so passé now, they were cool in '99. Gitching and mangling your audio does not make up for a lack of imagination or writing skill.

Pah! :-D

well yeah, i posted a "tutorial" on ALF some time ago describing a pretty simple way to make some beats and glitches.

althought he toturial isnt the greatest, nor is the end result perhaps, the basic principle is right there.

you could check it out here if you wanna:
