there will be different Ableton/Cycling bundles and
perhaps something like Operator/Sampler, a fully
integrated plug-in programmed by Cycling using the
Ableton technology. Of course you have to pay for that
seperately (like Operator and Sampler) again.
I don´t see any Cycling technology implemented in
Live 7...
I´d love to be proven wrong...
the m-audio partnership was mainly because of distributional reasons..
cycling is not a compagny that would directly come to mind for this..
if both technologies won't be exchanged in some way there's no need for bundling..
I really think that parts of both apps will become available for each other..
max is probably going to provide Live' modularity..
Or Live is going to provide max with a decent sequencer..

hmm, I disagree. There's still a chance of something making it in.
It depends what you mean by Cycling Technology implemented in Live 7, it thats some sort of pluggo device, it's possible. If you mean a patchwork of objects, very likely not

Have the two companies merged to become one?.. did one *buy out* the other?.. will they retain seperate identities but team up to produce a "joint" product in addition to their otherwise seperate product lines?... or will they just get together for Christmas lunch once a year?

The "codevelop" in the title and the body of the announcement indicated a technology exchange. This indicates a more meaningful partnership in terms of development teams working together. I have been in this situation, if there is a shared vision and the roles and goals are well defined it can go well, if not, then it does not.

I think they should have an exchange program
10 Ableton developers spend a fortnight at Cycling 74 HQ, and vice versa!
could produce interesting results

Actually. I believe we met 2 guys from cycling at the Ableton camp.
The exchange program must have been in order already.
I wonder how long we'll be tormented with wild speculation.
What do they have to fear be releasing the details?
Plogue teaming up with steinberg?
Pro-tools and reaktor hybrid?
And WTF is up with jazzmutant. Their site's been saying "one more day" 2 days now.
The horror... The horror...

I posted this on the Lemur forum...

I guess this was what the hype was about. As a lemur owner myself, IMO this is a real let down.

Notice how in the announcement Live is described as Abletons 'flagship' product? Besides plugins for Live, isn't it their
only product currently? Am I reading too much into it or is there going to be a new product?

On top of the beanies, ya also got Operator and Sampler... which can't really be described as Ableton's main output...
Oh and mousemats...

so when will the grand opening of the new forum section 'AbleCycle objects and other nifty externals' be?

this is great news but
What exactly does this mean for Live?
I saw no mention of integration, just a partnership, so I'm VERY curious to see how this changes Live. I've been waiting for a great host with TRUE modular features for a long long time. I hope we get plugin construction, midi from plugins to plugs and a real freely assignable modular matrix for mixing and routing!

Correction,
What exactly does this mean for Trance?
Interesting idea of Max getting sequencing from Live, could Live get a 'lite' version of MAx built in? I don't know Max, but could this mean we get a handful of objects to string together? Does that make sense?

I can't imagine a cut-down version of Max being shipped with Live, many Live users wouldn't use it for a start as they have different wants/needs. It would also be a large expense for Cycling to develop some lite embedded version and for what? People who like this sort of thing either already have Max or something similar.
IE: Ableton already have copies of Max, they want to integrate them with Live better. So, I think it will be closer integration between the products, perhaps OSC and pluggo related.
I can't really see some sort of re-write of Live to have a code window and little cables.
I would love that level of flexibilty about the app, storable modes, a user designed performance panel, updating Macros with a little scripting. But I can't see it happening yet, because the percentages and methods of how users that would use that functionality would need testing beforehand.
Perhaps imagination failure on my part.

True, it's very possible that all this means is that they introduced OSC integration, like making a big deal about Rewire.
Swinging cables... I'd like to be able to flip Live around and see God.
