you don't think having something that's closer to a mastered product is worth a $1k difference between the waves and duende?
the urs aint cheap either.
the waves stuff added about 25% cpu whereas the same SSL setup took up about hm.. 10%.. cpu is cpu
Have you installed the SSL 2.0 drivers that came out last week for Duende? People are reporting CPU load at 0% at full load... Just curious.

just dealing with a lot of variables.
the Duende unit was on hire and I had to take it back.
SSL reps have told me they will give me a trial unit to get the V2.0 software happening and I guess I just have to wait for that.
I've been mixin for the last week without the Duende and nothing has been making me as happy as I was with my sound from it.
I've tried many options.

Interested to see if the 0% CPU hit will be true in Ableton as it is in Nuendo and Samplitude. We've got one coming in this week so after installing the new drivers off the SSL site I'll report back. Crazy how its so ****ed up in Logic though... The main Bus comp apparently works flawlessly in ableton but crashes in Logic nonstop even with the 2.0 update.

B does it for me... But the difference is almost not there...
Maybe theres a bit more high freq distortion in ver. B. That might be great for the mix bus but might suck if in a synth line...!?
Its a matter of taste, as allways...
As Monk said: Talking about music is like dancing about architecture.

Just thought that B sounded a little fuller and just crisper. The difference was tiny though.

[anorak] There's still dispute over who said it. I like thinking it's Zappa too, but it's been acredited to all sorts of people, like Laurie Anderson and Elvis Costello, too. [/anorak]
