Jerry Falwell dead. Hooray!
what's wrong with celebrating the death of this man? way i see it, being totally unaware of your lack of compassion, rationality, etc., amounts to being mentally ill and in his case, spreading your illness to others en masse. if you don't like celebrating the death of someone because of the implied hatred, then celebrate because a sick man finally found peace, and as a result, made this world a better place.
when i was in school, they told me practice makes perfect, then they said nobody's perfect so i stopped practicing -steven wright

Pretty spotty human rights record. To put it mildly.
"remove the beam from your own eye before you attempt to remove the mote from your neighbors." Falwell would have liked some bible up in his celebratory death thread.

the beam is the unjust war the US is waging and all of the human rights violations surrounding it. The mote represents Castro's crimes.
it's not about you personally.

Falwell wasn't a christian. Not by christian standards atleast. I do understand what you are saying though. I notice a lot of people jumping on christians mainly because they are christians.Johnisfaster wrote: yup yup. too many people in this world think "hate is a terrible thing... but it's ok to hate someone if they are a christian or something."
Personally I'm not a Christian myself, but I have no problem with Christians.

nobody is seriously happy that a human being is dead.
A healthy bunch of folks are happy that he can't spread his bullshit ideas anymore.
when Fred Phelps dies, and i post a thread saying, Fred Phelps is dead, HURRAY! It won't be because i'm really happy that another human being is dead, but i'll surely have a little chuckle that another horrible hate monger has left the planet. couldn't be a bad thing, could it? Or are we supposed to respect these shitheads just because they're dead? why? they're horrible people.
You cat's are crazy if you're really taking this shit so seriously.

where are they?
I hear an awfull lot from folks whose big political issues are anti-abortion, anti-gays, anti-feminism etc. etc.... Where is the christian anti-war movement? How about anti-homeless movement (actually, i know there is some of that, but not nearly asa much as there is bullshit "moral" issue)
I'm sorry, but those people can't be christian.
Christ doesn't look like the kind of cat who would say "AIDS isn't just God's punishment for homosexuals, but for the culture that accepts them"
or to point fingers at liberals, abortionists and homosexuals for being partly responsible for 911. WTF? fuck those cats and anybody who thinks that's what spirituality is about.
killing innocent people in a third world country for our "war on terrorism"? Great!
Two men getting married? Disgusting, and probably the reason that god let the terrorists attack us.
fuck that.

yeah, I caught your point, even as finely nuanced as it was. Here's the point you're missing: I was asked what my beef was with Castro and I answered the question. We weren't talking about George Bush or American foreign policy. We were talking about Castro. Simple as that. Saying that Hitler or Pol Pot or (if you believe it) George Bush is a big bastard too doesn't answer the question about my beef with Castro, nor does it excuse Castro's history.leisuremuffin wrote:You're not getting it.pilcrow wrote:I was asked what my beef was with Castro, and I answered the question.leisuremuffin wrote: yeah, not like us, we're awesome!

But now I see I've opened a door for Pol Pot defenders here in the think tank. Have at it!
