Couldn't narrow it down to one track. But two albums:
Nirvana - Nevermind. Made me go out a buy a guitar. Before then had a little more than a passing interest in music.
Underworld - Dubnobasswithmyheadman. First got me interested in electronic / dance music.
For a while between the two, it was guitars or nothing. But to be honest, leftfield, the chemical brothers, portishead, orbital, the orb, future sound of london etc. all played their part.
They may be obvious choices, but there you have it.
To the OP, also with you with Papua New Guinea. In ibiza, my first *argh-hem* lets say big club night. It was an emotional moment.

Is there a tune that changed everything for you?
a few tunes from a few groups:
I grew up in my johnny jump-up listening to Chuck Mangioni, Pink Floyd, Michael Jackson, Mozart, Michael Jackson, and the Beatles and then years down the road: Gypsy Kings, Depeche Mode, Dr. Dre, Wagon Christ, Micky Hart, etc. This is probably why my music is all over the place.

Yeah that album crossed me over too, them and Fluke although I don't remember having an album by them. I actually walked past The Prodigy who were playing the NME stage at Glastobury once to catch Fluke who were playing the dance tent at the same time.
I picked up on the Detroit stuff later as a result of hearing those sorts of artists first, there wasn't a lot of Detroit techno being played in rural Cornwall at that time, I wish there had been.

Yeah I remember getting my Fat of the Land album back in the day... I started off buying movie soundtracks actually. Since I didn't know any bands, I would just get soundtracks to movies I liked. But one day during my search I came across an album with a big Pi symbol on it. The world's never been the same since.
Also coming across the Reich Remixed album made me realize what a remix is, how bad ass Steve Reich is, and how much I loved Nobukazu Takemura without even having heard any other tracks aside from his remix of "Proverb." And since I'm expanding, Air's Moon Safari made me realize that electronic music could be sexy.

I actually started out listening to Jean Michel Jarre when I was really young and then discovered rock and metal when I was at shool leaving age. Uuhhm this is a really nice thread..
Music was my first love it will be my last...That´s why it is hard to name only a few. But there were some highly emotional moments in my life ( I am 42, so..)

always into a wide variety of music but when i started to dj was heavily into drum and bass.
I wasnt really into anything house related until i heard vitalics album ok cowboy and more specifically la rock 01.
Was the first piece of vinyl i bought that was even vaguely house related and completely changed the sort of stuff I was dj-ing.
Still would love to see vitalic live although my tastes have continued to go on a journey and not hugely into that stuff anymore, but just because at the time (for me anyway) he seemed to be the only one doing something that sounded really innovative.

that Adam F album was great - although he wears his Golidie Inner City Life influences on his sleeve on that record - still great though
the Orb was a big one for me too - but I'd have to stick Orbital in there too

In 1979 I was 13 years old, and when I first heard London calling by the Clash my life REALLY changed...............and I never turned back!
And still - to this day, that song sends shivers down my spine!!!!!
