I'm thinking it would use the numeric value of the word charactera mapped to a midi note value, with some 'wrapped mapping' for values that are out of range. Spaces would be rests.forge wrote:pepezabala wrote:who helps me to program a plug in that converts incoming mails into midi-sequences?
the performance will be called "function follows form".

See, I think this brings to light a very good point. It's not about male vs. female (music is universal), and it's not (solely) about technicalities or gear fetish. When musicians perform to a live audience, watching is just as important as listening. It doesn't matter what retarded facial expression you have when you sing a note, strike a chord on a harp, or play keys on your keyboard, the fact is, that it is entertaining and fascinating to see the animated movements of a musician manipulating their instruments to produce (hopefully) pleasing noises. It's hard for a "laptop musician" to be able to emulate this.nate_D wrote:a proper way to bring electronic music to life with bjork.matmos.a full orchestra @ the royal opera house

That's not to say that some musicians don't just stand there like a stick in mud the whole time, which tells me they are either over-concentrating or just boring.
Bjork is my equal favourite with Tom waits

I think that you have to have the improvisation element there to make live music really interresting. Not for the music nerds standing in the back, but I beleve it has an effect on the music itself-for the whole audience. The uncertainity of imrovisation gives the music an edge, which it otherwise lacks. But this can be a lot of things, not just guys playing guitars.
