Sampler has a Trigger mode which means it ignores your notelength, actually so does Operator.

More interestingly - Sampler has a little routing thing for the distortion now, before or after your filter sir?

they updated the envelopes in sampler so they are curvy, spline-like

loads of areas are now drag-scrollable with a little hand.
Such as the session grid, the midi clip view, the waveform view, the heirachic view (bottom right corner), the rack chain list(vertical), racks (horizontal) etc, etc.

you press ctrl& alt to make the hand appear.

Did anyone mention

Sensible Solo !

solo a track, you can still hear your effects,
solo a group track and you can actually hear it !

Tone Deft wrote: so, with operators set into a drum rack each one only responds to a single note, is there a way to change that? IOW they all play at once or only respond separately. with a regular rack I'd use a chain selector, maybe it's the same here, dunno, soooo much to check out.
The drum rack has the ability to choose incoming and outgoing notes. But notice that you can also set a drum rack chain input to 'all'

Then all notes are passing to that chain's devices...

So take the operator in that chain, and sub-rack it. now you can use the zone/chain settings for that sub-rack to limit the notes to which the operator responds.

You guys are so into the advanced stuff, but here are some of the simple things that are fabulous:

- Someone said EQ8, but go deeper, it's now a much more usable EQ with a high quality option that enables 64-bit processing and extended frequency rance....so much more usable for track and mastering bus.

- Compressor gives me instant boner - true sidechain, knee, and again, a more usable interface.

- Gate has sidechain

- Tempo Nudge, allowing DJs to quickly match to vinyl, allowing live to match up to freeform musicians

huh?
I am not seeing this behavior at all.
or maybe I am misunderstanding what you are calling a "group track".

BTW, someone mentioned native mouse wheel scrolling. Not working for me, so the AutoHotKey is still the only option on Windows.

Any improvements in GUI work flow? 6 had a keyboard shortcut for the browser finally for instance.

The one I really hope for is a better way to resize tracks vertically! :?

MIDI, anything on that front? Improved MIDI timing is great, it's a feature in Logic 8 that has me interested in that update, so it's cool seeing Live get improvements that way too.
What about MIDI though? anything you guys noticing?

while the SIdechaning on COmpressor steals all the thunder I have to throw in a plug for the Auto-filter and Gate sidechaining - there is A LOT of fun to be had there

in fact I have been playing about alot with all 3 sidechainers together

the gate if it uses a syncopated hi-hat as it's source can funk up a bass drone, while the auto-filter takes auto-wah and synced filter sweeping to a new level

among my other favourites are the SLicer above all - have y'all tried using the macros on a sliced drum rack automapped to your controller? insane amount of fun to be had - and I change the x-fade mapping on macro 8 to "transpose", then of course you can drag the new creation to the default folder "when invoking the slice command" and it will always default to it when slicing a file

I really love the new compressor

the Spectrum is awesome too

sticking an arp in front of the drum rack is great too - especially with the new smoothness and going up to 128
