leisuremuffin wrote:screw it, lets talk about places in brooklyn some more. I think that williamsburg has a lot of really great spots, and its only one or two subway stops out of manhattan. Tell your friends to grow some balls, neb.
1) fette sau. ---> this is on metropolitan just west of havemeyer. It's a relatively new smoke house, and one of the best bbq joints i've been to. you can get a jug of beer and drink it out of mason jars. nice.
2) DuMont ---> right by the lorimer stop on the l. It's just a little bit south an on the other side of the street from kellog's diner on union. get the mac and cheese. you have no fucking idea.
3) zipi zape ---> metropolitan and berry. Good spanish tapas joint. one of m favorite spots.
4) bonita ---> bedford around south 3rd. There are probably better places to get mexican food in the area, but this place is the bomb for 3 reasons:
- fish tacos - the best i've ever had.
- michiladas - best in the city, G. It's a beer cocktail. beer on the rocks with lime chili and a bunch of other shit that i don't know what it is. served in a glass with salted rim.
- agua fresca - drink it, yatch. it's good here.
i could keep going, but off the top of the knot, that's where i would go.
.lm.
i live in williamsburg as well, and while some of these places are good, they certainly aren't worth traveling to brooklyn. if you're coming to williamsburg anyway, and want to eat, then the list is good. but not if you're looking for a great NYC meal.

McDonalds in New York is very good. But if you want a sandwich then Subway is where you should go.

sorry if i seemed negative. like i said, those are all good places, and i eat at them all the time, because i live near them. but honestly, they are not anywhere near "great" by NYC standards.
i have a ton of places to suggest, but i can't even begin to recommend something without knowing a budget, taste preferences, size of group, etc.

Back on manhattan,, any of the Mahali places used to be very good Indian,, or any where on (I think) 4th street,, some people call it Dehli Row,, a whole street of Indian and bengali places,, any of them are as good as any other depending on the night,, worth it to see the manic sitar and tabla players ripping it up to attract customers,,
,
its 6th street.
its most def worth a stop for a cheap and good meal.

More specifically tell them if they want Indian on 6th Street between 1st and 2nd Avenue, Brick Lane is the best of them.

Don't know if it's already on the list but the renowned Katz's Deli on Houston & Ludlow has the best pastrami you will probably ever eat in your life. I guess you could consider it touristy, but who cares... Order it fatty, not lean because it's delicious, and who are you kidding, you're a fat pig anyway.

Heck yeah, sounds good to me.
I'm up for checking out the show on the 3rd, Luna is a great venue. And that beer house next door rocks. Too bad the weather is turning, their garden out back is great.
Where do you rehearse, muffin?

I think I may have seen a post for Blue Ribbon on this thread, the sushi is truly amazing, with a knowledgeable wait staff.
There are other's places that I can't seem to remember, hope this helps tho!
Whatever you do, stay away from the restaurants in Time Square (40's), lousy food Tourist/Adverdisment Hell!!!!!!
