Might be splitting hairs but for me I know its not the pot but the state of relaxation I get from it at times that allows me to explore and experiment.

What happens is, the guy in my brain who thinks everything I does sucks fucks off for a while and I can just do stuff without being critical of it all.

I am looking into stuff like meditation and teh verrry dangeris binaural beets that Kim Komando sez is killng kids.

But the thing is, your perspective changes. And I mean this literally, you hear the same music (that you loved in the first place) from a 90° different angle. Just a different angle. Nothing 'otherworldly' about it.

A substance influences you and some of your experiences might turn out a little different compared to being sober, neither is better, just different.

As for mixing and engineering, better be sober! You need your knowledge and ears to do those things! Being creative is not doing a job. Your creative (drugged out) output might be the starting point of a job. But the job will be 95% soberness.

All together I find it a waste when people can't enjoy without them, but I wouldn't want to miss those different angles substances provide me.

at this point in the thread maybe we should take a lesson from the Bible.

Jesus saves.

you can save multiple .als files in the same project folder, such as
- sober
- not sober

nothing like opening up a set you've been working on for months only to realize how fucked up you really were last night. @#$%^&!!!

Absolutely not! I'm enjoying your tunes right now, completely sober.

I'm pretty sure a clueless soccer mom, who's heaviest experience was when she got tippsy at her daughter's sweet 16 birthday, would swear up and down that you were on drugs while creating your tracks.

Somebody who says that being off their head on pills and feeling that oh so lovely vibe of every single peice of that music, going through your body, isnt appreciating it better.
