LOL at the part about driving your car with the power of christianity!!!Angstrom wrote:science has theories that you can light up your house with and create silicon chips with, that's pretty good for a belief system.Meef Chaloin wrote:it is a belief systemAngstrom wrote:believers in science?
interesting concept there
believers in anything will find you proof for what they believe in. and this is where science has/is killing itself, arrogance has taken such a toll
true but also very true of a lot of scienceAngstrom wrote:once you are in a cult, it is impossible to see the other side as anything other than a repressive counter.
I can't drive my car on the power of christianity or von danikenism
I'm not some kind of evil repressive closed minded 'scientist' like these ones that conspiracy theorists have set up as their 'satanist' figure. So calm down.
I'm completely open to there being a billion things that are outside human knowledge, the thing I have an issue with is people who connect a few dots and claim that they now know things that are obviously outside human knowledge.
If I had time right now I'd cook you up a theory that sounded completely plausible by merely using a bit of folklore, an artefact and a couple of little know research papers. I could construct something so beguiling to the human psyche that people would want it to be true.
and that's what everyone has to beware of - the things you want to be true are the most perfect con game of all.
Science is not a "belief system," again that lack of knowledge about science exihibited by the average person. I don't know who to blame, the educational system? Or human stupidity? In science, we accept or reject based on evidence that can be independently verified, we don't believe.
This was particularly troubling...
I was going to rebut your statements but I think the last one speaks for itself. NaNu NaNu...people believe everything scientists say even though they change their fucking minds 6 times a day. say what you will about religion, least it sticks to its guns.
