i think he is using the "control surface" mode in reason, which is
similar to mackie emulation mode. with other words he can't choose/use
different presets on his bcr...

anyway, looking forward to test your application tonight. since i am
using my bcr as a drumcomputer (in combination with rack-ed step sequencers in live), the big problem is exactly that preset limitation.

just wondering about one thing:
the way i have it set up now, is 8 presets on the bcr with 8 diff. midi channels. every drumsound has its 16 steps with every step knob assigned
to the appropriate bcr knob + midi channel.

will your app let me choose virtual presets with different midi channels
without changing preset on the bcr? that would be awesome, since i could
set up the whole drumcomputer thing within one preset.
Thats exactly what the app does. The text labels are just a bonus.

hi hofffman,

nice work man! i assigned the baby yesterday in my groovebox project.
at first attempt, everything seems to work.

i found one "bug", which may also be a problem of myself, but maybe
you can re-check:

i go to properties, set the 4 midi routing devices as needed. i save preferences
and minimize the program. no problem. but when i close the program, and re-open
it, the 4 midi devices are routed wrong. that way i have to re-configure it everytime
when i open it.

another question: can i use, let's say only a part of the bcr in the program?
let's say i only need the 16 buttons to be switched in virtual presets and want
all the rotary encoders to stay midi channel 1 (or another). result would be
to use the 16 step buttons in 8 virtual presets and have the encoders control
global changes in my groovebox.

thanks man. this is very useful!

Yeah, I can confirm the issue with the presets and will fix at ASAP.

As far as global controls go, the last 16 CC's on Ch 1 are global. Meaning that any knob/button with one of these CC's won't be transposed to a different MIDI Channel.
But there also isn't a visual display for it. Which kinda makes sense since these parameters don't jump around when switching presets.

I'll make the source code available for the next version, because I don't think there will be any updates before Max for Live arrives.

Hi!
I have a question for completely noobs (im new to BCR) :)

Where do i need to extract those 3 files (from the bcr performer .zip)?

should be in AL installation folder? Resources\MIDI Remote Scripts\ ??
Or anywhere in the disk and just load them from the application ???

Also got and set midi yoke ... I enable 2 midi chan's and put the remote on (AL midi prefs) Should i do the same on max's midi prefs?

thanks very much!!!

You place them in a folder anywhere on the hard drive.
The Mxf file is the application that can be opened with Max/Msp runtime.
The other files are used by the BCR application.

1.5 is running pretty stable now. I'll release it soon with some more documentation.

Been busy since the Live 8 beta started to be honest.
I'll release it in April. There's a beta of v1.5 in this thread.

hey hoffman! glad to see someone that is improving on good devices to make them even better. i own the bcr and already have all my values set the way i want them. i just want to be able to see the correct knob values for all presets, not just one. is it possible to keep all of my settings and gain visual readout for all presets? will the software overwrite my settings? does it work similar to enigma and m-audio controllers? thx. Maz.

I'm not sure what you mean with all of this.
All the CC's are hardwired because they correspond with specific controls within the application.
I'm actually waiting to either get my hands on an APC or M4L, so that I can make a single button version of this application. I just need to be able to send a command to Live, so that it sends out all its values to the currently chosen preset on the BCR.

Version 1.5 as linked earlier in this thread, is running very stable over here. http://covops.org/uploads/BCR%20Perform ... 5%20b5.zip

This is pretty much the version I'm going to release. I just need time to polish it and do a proper manual.

sorry for the confusion. what im trying to say is that i have three presets on the bcr that i use for djing. live will only register 1 of these presets correctly on the led displays, the other 2 are at their default until i move them. if i understand correctly, your program solves this, in addition it remaps the bcr for specific funtions in live. i wanted to know that if i get this program, it will allow me to keep the bcr led's in sync with abletons fx/mixer controls i mapped to it on all my presets when i switch between them during live use, and it will not erase my bcr templates. thanks.

You have 32 available presets on the BCR. It has to overwrite 1, but I assume you have like 10 empty ones or at least unused ones that you can overwrite. Just make sure that the preset you wish to alter is the on that is selected on the BCR.

You will have to remap everything if you want to use this application. There are 16 presets that use 16 times the same CC numbers for the knobs on different midi channels.
And its highly unlikely that the messages are used are the same ones you already mapped.
