Are you talking about this?
Rave wrote:Get air video mate. You can either watch the movies directly or press convert and it will make them iPad friendly which u can drag and drop and sync in iTunes or stream without them being converted on the fly :)
Can you PLEASE (seriously I didn't exclude please to be rude, don't know why you read it that way) explain this?

I got the app and saw those options but they appeared to do nothing and the developer's site sucks. Where does it put the converted files and how do you "drag and drop" them into iTunes?

Start Air Video
Select Movie
Press Convert
Check queue from app and it will tell you how long it will take
You can switch off air video now if you like.
Wait
Go to folder where the original movie is stored
It is there
Drag and drop into movies into itunes
sync
job done
be happy

I'm taking bets that Touchable never sees the light of day.

Who's in?

Speaking of which, haven't heard from one person who's reviewed griid. Surprising? I think not.

Are you talking about the folder where the movie is stored on the computer? So the iPad converts the movie and sends it back to the computer in it's converted form? And there's now 2 files there of the same movie, the orginal and the converted?

Alright, so I see how Air Video does the conversion and transfer, pretty much like you said.

Now my only speed bump is most of my movies are on my Mac Mini but I sync my iPad to my MBP, but it looks like this will only convert and add things to your library on the same computer (server). I was hoping I could grab a movie from my Mini, convert it, and then add that to my MBP library, but looks like no dice. I'll just have to use share in iTunes to first drag the movie file from my Mini to iTunes on my MBP and then do the conversion transfer using Air Video. Kind of convoluted but I guess the only option at this point.

Thanks for pointing me to that app.

U can. Transfer the converted files to your mbp. Just create a network not using iTunes

I do find it odd that just a couple of brainiacs claim they virtually recreated every aspect of Ableton's interface on a touch screen since the limited time the iPad has been out and yet Mr. Hawtkins (whatever the fuck his name is) and his no doubt army of leg humping programmers simply came up with a clip launcher.

Got my iPad on my desk at work right now propped up landscape style watching a Sade concert. Class. Oprah would be proud. I think I'll watch 300 when it's over.

nice. I have one of her concerts on DVD... I forget the name of it, but it always amazes me how in sync her whole band is when I watch it. skizzzls.

Yeah, PRO shit. I think the concert I just watched was ripped from the Lovers Live DVD.

I decided against watching 300 next and instead put on NIN live.

Hey! One of the Griid army right here :D Actually, we're not really an army, unless we're talking about a VERY small country :P

After working on Mu, where we really went for the many features angle, we approached this one a bit differently. A lot of pro performers already have faders and knobs and tactile controllers etc which they've very attached to, so we wanted to start with something we think that the touchscreen does better than anything else -cliplaunching. We wanted to build something that would complement a pro-performer's live setup, not replace it.

There's actually a lot of little considerations and details in Griid which make using it on stage very different to other clip launching solutions. I won't list them here, but I'd be very interested to hear from anyone who's tried it :)
