...and of course, we're very interested in the bigger picture of what a touchscreen controller can give Live users - we've got some really exciting new ways of working with the other aspects of Live in development. However, we really wanted to start by doing one small thing, and doing it well before moving onto the next, testing with artists onstage along the way. That's really our approach. No more, no less :D

Hedroom wrote:Hey! One of the Griid army right here :D Actually, we're not really an army, unless we're talking about a VERY small country :P

After working on Mu, where we really went for the many features angle, we approached this one a bit differently. A lot of pro performers already have faders and knobs and tactile controllers etc which they've very attached to, so we wanted to start with something we think that the touchscreen does better than anything else -cliplaunching. We wanted to build something that would complement a pro-performer's live setup, not replace it.

There's actually a lot of little considerations and details in Griid which make using it on stage very different to other clip launching solutions. I won't list them here, but I'd be very interested to hear from anyone who's tried it :)

Some valid points. Historically DJ culture is very slow to let go of the old and embrace the new.

So is this just phase 1 of the many phases of Griid? I think people might be more into it if they knew this is just the very base level of future Griid development that will grow to a lot more than just a clip launcher.

I stated I think the price point is a little high, but ironically I did buy it but at the time more out of financial kudos to you for developing it. I still have to get around to using it. Headspace is just a little full at the moment.

Hehe, well thanks for the support - it's hugely appreciated. Now fire it up and give it a try! ;)

A recent annoyance of mine is tapping or swiping around the area of the button and accidently hitting the button causing the app to quit and going to the main screen. Most annoying when you're playing a game and your gestures have to happen around that area. But imagine that happening when using it to control Live in a live situation.

But on the other hand I've never seen a computer or console that has such a quick loading time in most cases. A lot of times when I'm on a computer or console I don't quit something because I don't want to come back to it soon and sit through the loading time. On the iPad that isn't a problem. Zip zip zip.

Apple has released a fix for that.

but it costs 30 bucks - unless it annoys enough people to make the evening news at which point Apple will hold a press conference and the price will change to 'free'.

Nice try wise guy, but that is clearly bullshit as the above apparatus is not white and doesn't feature a glowing apple.

However, by posting that you just advanced to the front of the queue as head writer at Gizmodo.
