ableton 9 = not sure

bitwig first version= done !

plus studio one 2.5 ...another serious competitor too !

this PDC thing seems becoming more and more a major strategic issue ...
IMHO ableton should communicate about it soon...

ps : yes its true ...affirmative video answer :D

Ableton (employees) read the forums.

The PDC issue is all over this forum, gearslutz, KVR etc., even though I suspect most people didn't even know it was a problem (I have been using Live for years and never noticed...) it will be doing some damage to their reputation.

I suspect if it could be fixed quickly, it would be. I suspect if they new how/when it could be fixed, they would comment. It may be a fundimental re-write of major code, in which case I doubt they would even look at it with 9 just about to be released (and 64 bit). maybe they want to get a stable release out before they get in to this, maybe they (literally) cant aford to delay the 9 release.

I also suspect it wont put many people of buying Live or upgrading (it wont put me of, Live has been this way for a long time and I still use it every day).

I think if it was my company I wouldn't bother commenting on it.

Lets say my product doesn't do B and C and to achieve C I need B to be completed.
However feature B rests upon an existing feature A which is currently is engaged in a widely requested update. It is most likely perilous for me to attempt to achieve my new A,B,C all at the same time and be confident that they will all function perfectly. Especially if I had ever been accused of producing a "buggy" product

If my Company comments : "We need to wait for A to be fully tested before implemented our new B, which is required for C. It's quite complicated"

All I'd get is:

User 1: Oh, OK I get it thanks.

User 2: WTF WTF IS DIS SHAT>!?!!!!
User 3: I had no idea that B was asuch a problem, Logic has B since years!!!!
User 4: for years I wondered why my music terrible, now I know bad B and A is problem!! the word complicated tells me they don't know how to do it anymore. Thy have forgotten how to program!!!

Company : No, feature A has always existed, but it needs to be done differently to achieve C. We still know how to program.

User 5: I am a programmer, and I can tell that Company is a semi-retarded boy with one arm.
User 2 (back again): WTGF WTF DIS IS DA PROOF da PROOOF!!!
User 3 (back again): I can barely face my mother since finding out about the admitted incontinence.
User 6: Panty holes bumbags and trump gas HA ha HA anus legs
User 2: BIIITTTWIIIIGGGG!!!!!!

Company Statement : "our staff have retired to a forest shack, away from all people"

some communication would still be better than nothing

understandable though, its just a few protesters, right or wrong, posting on the forum they have relegated to the hinterlands
