More or less why I've decided to wait for the next version. I like the iPAd in concept, but everytime I try it I just think it's a tad too heavy.

Holy crap, this is some next level graphics right here. It'll bring it out the current state of PS2 graphics at best up to PS3 level (or whatever your current console of choice is).

Just as cool the movement controls aren't static on the screen. As long as you put your fingers in the general proximity of where the controls were it will automatically graphically move the joysticks to your fingers current positions.

Depends on what you are comparing it to and for what purpose. It's a lot heavier than a Kindle, but a lot lighter than a Lemur, but certainly isn't something you want to be holding up at head height with one hand for any extended length of time.
I also have no doubt they'll be slapping cameras in the next generation and the retina display. I wonder when they're going to start using those for their computer displays.

I just got it but is there anything to do or is it just a demo of the world with no interaction?
Must say the graphics are fluid.

It's actually a map for what will be released as a game later. This is just a demo of the graphics, and it's free so why not.
I've been getting into the console type games on the iPad but did notice the graphics aren't up to consoles.
This changes everything. Again.
Gameloft is going to have to seriously step it up with their graphics now.

At first I never used the orientation lock button, but now I use it constantly and it's GENIUS.
THANK YOU STEVE!

This.
Especially as I spend no less than 4 hours a day with my iPad on one of these.

Is anyone else like me and constantly scrolling up to the top of the page in Safari to hit the back button only to realize that Safari for iPad has the buttons at the top all the time (unlike on the iPhone)?

stringtapper: lol. Did the same thing for awhile, until I switched to Atomic Browser.
Which, BTW, is a GREAT fucking browser app that I really must plug again.
True browser style multi page tabs FTW.
Safari's multi browser window thingy for mobile stuff has always driven me bat shit crazy.

This. I even replaced safari on the task bar with atomic browser.

I didn't give it a try since my first 2 days of FAIL, but I plan to give it a go this weekend after some deep meditation. I'll let you know how it goes.

Didn't get to TouchAble this past weekend because I was preoccupied with the awesomeness that is Plex, a far better alternative to Front Row for movies and TV shows. With iTunes and Front Row I have to go in and manually tag all the movie and TV show information on things I download or ripped and copy/paste the artwork. Plex automatically grabs all that based on the title and also adds year, genre, director, actors, synopsis….a lot of shit I don't bother to manually enter. The interface is also graphically stunning and you can browse by all the tag types mentioned. It also runs off the same Apple remote.
Best of all with the Netflix add-on and Plexflix app it will also add all your movies and TV shows that are in your streaming queue into your library AND mix it in with your hard drive library content flawlessly. So you don't have to go to a separate netflix page, it's all mixed in and appears as part of your library.
You can also add hulu show subscriptions that appear in similar fashion.
I tried Plex a year or so ago and it was buggy as shit and couldn't properly link my libraries, but the current version is bad-ass.
To relate it to the iPad there's also a Plex app which you can use as a remote for your computer version, stream your library to your iPad through either wifi or through 3g as long as Plex is open on your computer and you have port forwarding setup on your router. Your iTunes library streaming from anywhere, not taking up drive space on your iPad.

So there's a bunch of apps out that allow you to stream content from your computer through 3g. How are you guys setting up your computer for this? I'm assuming when your computer goes to sleep and you are nowhere around it then this isn't going to be possible. Also assuming this means your computer can never go to sleep. How does that impact the performance of your computer over the long haul?
Unrelated: Why when I do certain tasks on my computer it wakes up my external drives even when the externals don't have anything to do with the process?
Back to related: Why doesn't iTunes on the iPad let you stream content to your iPad through 3g?
Because nobody would buy an iPad with a larger drive?
Because Apple doesn't want to deal with complaints about poor performance over 3g (now AT&T and the app developers problem)?

Where's my fucking iPad update with multitasking?
