As a primary synth it has that Korg sound that only korg fan boys could love :)

But as a secondary synth to a virus ti its a very good compliment. very clean airy and bringht by comparison, but also a bit thin and cold sounding. As a primary lead synth, I would probably be wanting to run it throgh gentle saturation and eg to warm it a bit. It doesnt have the have end fiz or balls of a V-Synth either, but it does have quite snappy envelopes.

Also very easy to program, mod sequencers on it are very useful. Drum sounds are pretty good - very clean sounding, though I dont use them as have a roland v-drum kit and drums on the motif es are better as you would expect and the machine drum is way more programmable. Filters are a bit on the tame side compared to the TI, dont seems to bite in quite same way. With all that aside, it can create a staggering range of tones. Very easy to get really piercing and/or dirty sounds out of it. Also very good for layering with a TI to add high end brightness.

Its let down a bit by it modulation destinations - they are suprisingly limited of you are used to being able to have just about everything as a mod destination as with the TI.

All said and done - its a very good complimentary synth if you allready have a TI.

Ps. I hate trackpads so use a mouse.

The only reason I use the wireless might mouse is because its bluetooth and frees up my 2 usb ports. Its a piece of shit though.

This is by far my favorite thread.
Does anyone know of any other forums with threads like this so that I can spend hours coveting other peoples studios instead of doing real work?
Ive got a bad case of gearlust and I need my fix tonight... 8O

Soon as my gay ass bro comes home from sicily with the camera Ill post a pic with the new Axiom (I LOVE my new Axiom)
Ive set up the Axiom in front of me, with the laptop on a table with the legs chopped off, architect stylee.
It'll make more sense when you see the pic.

itook4lefts Ive never had any trouble with the firewire audiophile, once it is left plugged in and turned on.
I've used it with a G5 and a macbook.

Incidentally, while the audiophile is great as an interface with A/B switching for DJ'ing, I'm experimenting with using the headphone out and onboard sound hooked up to my monitors for production (I'm currently all software based)
I cant notice any difference in sound quality or cpu. Maybe someone can set me straight if there is any reason why I shouldn't do this.

There is one on Vintage Synth Explorer that is literally over 300 pages long. You could be there all week.
