No experience with Connex, but came across this the other day - http://www.katz-bikes.com/Ausgehaengt.75.0.html - all in German, but hopefully the pictures make sense - it's an all-enclosed drivetrain - aim is a zero maintenance, completely reliable bike.

Also, heard wild, idle speculation about hydraulic drive systems - never seen one in action though...

Though, so far I've been lucky - just used standard Shimano chains and never had any problems. Usually take a couple of spare links and a mini chain link remover with me on rides though, cos, yup, walking in SPDs to find a cab, sucks...

Shite. Now my front brake cable came loose. It's an easy fix, but as much as I pull it, i can't get the little head far enough to fit into the fucking holder. I tried last night... about to try again in a bit.

can you loosen the other end? you mean the wheel end or the handlebar end?


tip on loc-tite... I fuctup last week. the set screw for my rear brake kept backing out on a ride. when I got home I put some red loc-tite on it, but it got away from me and got onto the pivot point so the brake would not rebound. I'd use the brake then have to push it back open. I took the brake apart and sure enough that pivot point (the pall that holds the cable to the lever) was held in place with blue loc-tite and I couldn't get a wrench on it. eventually I RTFM'ed loc-tite... I put a friging hair dryer on the brake lever and it melted the red loc-tite. FIXED!! I fixed my frigging brake with a hair dryer!!

interesting. could be cool for rental bikes and community bike programs. reminds me of quests to make 'infinite gear' drives. bike drive trains that don't have individual gears but one smooth transition from a low gear ratio to a higher gear ratio.

got it fixed... sort of. At least i got the cable back in place. Front brake feels a little loose still, but works. I put it to the test earlier today. Will try and refine it tomorrow.

also the impressive thing about the long skid in the video wasnt the distance or time, it was that REAR TIRE!!!!!!!!!! what kind was he using? he would have torn almost anything

he was going down a hill and when you get your center of gravity above (infront of) the front hub, you can pretty much keep the skid going for ever, until you rub a hole through your back tire

im more impressed by a kid bombing a hill than flatland tricks, if anyone wants to see kids doing ridiculous speeds on track bikes google MASHSF
