two thirds of the people in this thread will have died of hunger within the next 20 years.

Financial Collapse (financial crisis 08)
Commercial Collapse (commercial real estate bubble collapse of 09)
Political Collapse (Already started with protests, riots, berlusconi punched, climate conference walk out. more in 2010)
Social Collapse (2011 mass food shortages, petroleum prices peak, law enforcement stops working)
Cultural Collapse ( 2012 - 2025 gradual but complete collapse of all scientific knowledge and any memory of our way of life , another dark ages. Ableton Live 10 comes out)

Saw this quote today, think it applies to the discussion.

"When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men living together in society, they create for themselves in the course of time a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that glorifies it."

-Frederic Bastiat "The Law" 1850

that gentlemen, appears to be what has transpired.

@ Emissary, your predictions are dark and while the dates may be questionable the outcomes... not so much.
except for Live 10
I hope none of us starve though. If anybody needs a bag of rice to get through... holla!

i welcome the future, cant really predict whats going to go on but its exciting to see what will happen. Im just waiting for now until 2012 to see if the Mayans predicted that shit right, if not then im not going to believe any predictions ever again in my life.

Man the Mayans just ran out of room on the round flat rock.
If someone said "Yo, Bleep Blop Ima Robot we need a new calendar lets make one and sell it..." how far into the future would you make it? A year? 2 years? 10?
I have to believe that when you're carving.... over a 1000 of anything has to be some kind of limit... especially when its years... in the future!

I guess I'm saying... don't hold your breathe in 2012... I'm definitely saying that January 1st is probably not the first day of the Mayan calendar so don't get all wound up on Dec 31st 2011.

lol +1 really, id like to believe in it, it would be really crazy if something would happen. Funny ive said that same thing, mayans probably got lazy and stopped. The years are probably going to go on like normal though and we will all be fine.

Have to ask my drummer again, he's mayan and is pretty aware of what it all means but it was something liek this when he last explained it:
The end of the calander has to do with the changing of eras, they never wrote the next section because they hadn't finished getting the information together, but what they had put together pointed to a new era of south american growth etc. Some parts of the calander point to a sort of prediction of events, and led to the Mayans mistakenly embracing the Spaniards when they arrived etc. Anyway this is all from a drummer so take it with a couple bears and some weed.

yeah ok that was a bit doomey even for me, sometimes i think i need a big slap with a wet fish. But still, much of the suffering will be kept quite by the media. so just because CNN,FOX,BBC or whoever aren't reporting on these things doesn't mean they aren't happening. I mean was this reported on at the time

http://www.guardian.co.uk/global/2009/d ... ief-claims

The world was basically stopped from collapsing by drug money. good job our intelligence agencys are so shit, or are they?
