Yeah it reminds me of Apples pricing on Logic upgrades. Almost identical actually. It's almost half the price to upgrade from the last version as it is to buy it new. But it's smart (yet evil). because that way they rope everyone in to future upgrades! Tempt newbies with the low price and then current users just can't help but upgrade... :?

not in the least.
it's a suite we're talking about here..

seriously, people want all that extra content for what...$100 ? GTFO.

and it's the same upgrade price no matter which version you're upgrading from, meaning you can skip upgrades if you like without having your pocket punished. Oh, and of course the 50% discounts they've been offering during seasonal promotions.

personally I think each upgrade should come with a free hand-job.

It's true that the upgrade cost isn't bad at all for what you get. It's just interesting that the full price is so cheap in comparison. I notice that people seem to judge prices not based on what value it is to them, but what they get relative to what others get. For example, especially on KVR, people talk like companies completely raped them because they offered discounts shortly after they bought something. So because new users got it cheaper, all of a sudden it wasn't worth the price they paid anymore (even though it must have been worth it at the time they decided to pay for it). But that's the eternal gamble of technology.

Ya, KVR has the highest rate of autistic posters I've ever seen.

The same price for all upgrades is mostly due to earlier Komplete users who had PPC Macs. There's a thread over in the NI forums of former PPC Mac users screaming "unfair upgrade prices" back after Komplete 5 was released; it looks as if NI took their complaints to heart:

As far as the price itself goes, if you're a K6 owner, Abbey Roads, Prism and The Finger by themselves cover that, let alone the other added content. And, if you're upgrading from an earlier Komplete, it's a steal.
