Ableton products 33% off
Re: Ableton products 33% off
Jesus you people are bitchy.
When stuff you don't want goes on sale at the grocery store, do you make sure to go tell the manager that you don't want it? Or talk about how the butcher next door didn't send out a Sunday circular advertising their sale on specific cuts of beef?

Re: Ableton products 33% off
It's not about being bitchy but everything about customer feedback and selling a product to the customers that they would like to buy - i.e. exchange money for. Would you buy two year old cabbages from the Grocer's?agent314 wrote:Jesus you people are bitchy.

Re: Ableton products 33% off
If I didn't have Live/Suite and was looking to upgrade, I would certainly be interested in getting 33% off my purchase price.
Re: Ableton products 33% off
I can't decide if I should purchase this upgrade or not. Apparently, for me, the upgrade to suite costs $179. (I think).
I totalled up all the devices that come extra with suite; separately they would all cost over $1k together. That's a lot. But really, all I really want is a good synth. Live 8 doesn't come with any programmable synths. Which sucks. So i've been using free ones like Automat, and Tal Noisemaker. Both of these synths are really good considering the price. However, these are no live devices; they don't integrate as easily (obviously).
I know the answer to this question (whether I should upgrade) is up to me entirely, but if anybody has any opinion, let me know.
The thing is, I haven't entirely learned all the facets of the free synths. I've gotten into using LFO's, and the graphical editors of both automat and tal noisemaker; both of which are quite powerful. But the fact that I haven't taken the time to learn more things suggests that the same might happen with buying the suite. I'm basically afraid that I have a case of the "if i buy this my music will get better" ... rather than continuing along the "make do with what you got" method.
Originally I was thinking about just getting operator...new it is $159... and on sale now it is $110... I know the choice seems pretty obvious, but I'm just looking for any opinions (any at all) or thoughts on this small (and probably almost pointless) dilemma.
Thanks!

More is good. Especially when it hardly costs more. I've seen a lot of different folks write about Operator over the years and the general consensus seems to be that its really good.modecai wrote:I can't decide if I should purchase this upgrade or not. If you upgrade to Suite and you work on a Collab with someone, you won't have to worry about not having say Tension or Collision... you might not use the Suite products right away, but having the option to explore is nice, especially when you can spend so little and get so much. I don't use a lot of the instruments that came with Suite, but I never get an error message telling me that i can't do this or that without unlocking/purchasing something first - for me, that's huge. i hate error messages telling me that what i want is in reach but not without reaching for my wallet to get it...
when i'm bored or uninspired i often dibble and dabble with other Suite instruments. i have no idea how many little beats, fills, soundscapes and just plain ole noises i've added to my tracks that i wouldn't have been able to had i not said "to hell with it" and just paid a few extra bucks back when i was using Live 6 and decided to upgrade.
a deal is a deal. unless you've already cleaned out your bank account and all the cushions in the couch to come up with 110 to buy standalone Operator... i'd dig a little deeper and go for the gold if i was you...
hope this helps.

thats my suggestion too. if you have the money then spend a few more to get the suite instead of operator only. with suite you have all what you need to make every kind of music. my biggest problem in the beginning of making music was that i thought i need a lot of instruments to get better. i had uncountable synths, effects etc. and i tried synths instead of making music. a few weeks ago i deleted all that synths (except 3 which i bought) and effects... bought suite and now im trying to do music out of the box. now i wanna learn all about music production and i dont need anymore. in the future i will only buy another vst´s when i really know why i need another one.a deal is a deal. unless you've already cleaned out your bank account and all the cushions in the couch to come up with 110 to buy standalone Operator... i'd dig a little deeper and go for the gold if i was you...
i have EIC instead of buying NI kontakt, i have operator, i have session drums instead of buying battery etc. and all is perfectly integrated! maybe kontakt have a better library but who cares... they are good enough and normal guys will never notice. i dont miss anything now!

Re: Ableton products 33% off
Well after 5 years they finally suckered me into buying Suite. Got it for $147 with the Aussie dollar doing so well
Made a great foundation of a track with some of the new goodies last night so it was worth it for me!

Hey that definitely helps. I can see how it would definitely make sense to buy suite and not operator. But see, I can't even decide to upgrade at all (as in buy operator, or buy suite... just whether or not i should buy anything). You're right it's definitely a good deal... and as I said it's a totally subjective personal decision I have to make... one of those... "Do I need this" sort of decisions. But overall I appreciate your input. Does anybody have any advice on the lesser discussed synths? Analogue? Tension? Collision?
I wouldn't be getting session drums because I'd be buying the download version.
Great point about the collaboration thing too.
Right now I'm making music for fun, but down the road I think it'd be great to score a short film or something like that, so I can see having all of the instruments being really useful, instead of trying to get by with free synths. (although I do have logic express 9...)
guess I just gots to do some thinking...

i was still "rocking" version 6 (not suite). this sale got me to bite, so i went ahead and got 8 suite. really excited about some new stuff to tinker around with in production.

Downloading the Balinese Gamelan pack from Sonic Couture right now. I'm officially in love with that sound. 2 gigs of it isn't too shabby!

I'm probably not seeing the same options you are, as I already have Suite, but yes: if you buy the Suite upgrade, you get the Suitejbferron wrote:hi everybody

Honest folks - I've got suite but I'd say it's not worth it, IF that's a IF
you have other Soft Synths/Sampler
