Good to hear all is well, Adam...kinda
You know, I don't think this is limited to the new Hitachis HD. My reason behind this is I was having INDENTICAL issues on my 667 PB after upgrading to Live 4. So, it's not a harddrive issue -- I don't think. The most significant and ODD thing about this thread to me was the "re-encode" issue. I did that to an old set that was virtually un-playable after the upgrade, and after the re-encoding of the aiff...It actually fired up for a little while..
I have noticed this pre-triggering trick before, but it only seems to work with 60-80 scenes at most. Once you've been working your set for about 30 minutes and get pretty deep in, the same hicups start happening -- at least for me they did.
I'm a pretty huge effects guy so this is a huge bummer for me right now. I can only use like *maybe* 6-7 and this includes an EQ & Compressor out on the main at the moment. I was seriously running Live 3 on the 667 PB/512ram -- stock soundcard -- with 13 tracks, 130 scenes 12 0r 13 plug-ins with 33% CPU...So this Live 4, minus the instability, is pretty depressing. I've gotten used to performing a certain way, you know. So, just becasue it is *adequate* in my mind does not mean it is fixed. I have twice the power I used to have, yet only use a third of what I previously used....Ughh...I'm ranting.
