Good to hear all is well, Adam...kinda

You know, I don't think this is limited to the new Hitachis HD. My reason behind this is I was having INDENTICAL issues on my 667 PB after upgrading to Live 4. So, it's not a harddrive issue -- I don't think. The most significant and ODD thing about this thread to me was the "re-encode" issue. I did that to an old set that was virtually un-playable after the upgrade, and after the re-encoding of the aiff...It actually fired up for a little while..

I have noticed this pre-triggering trick before, but it only seems to work with 60-80 scenes at most. Once you've been working your set for about 30 minutes and get pretty deep in, the same hicups start happening -- at least for me they did.

I'm a pretty huge effects guy so this is a huge bummer for me right now. I can only use like *maybe* 6-7 and this includes an EQ & Compressor out on the main at the moment. I was seriously running Live 3 on the 667 PB/512ram -- stock soundcard -- with 13 tracks, 130 scenes 12 0r 13 plug-ins with 33% CPU...So this Live 4, minus the instability, is pretty depressing. I've gotten used to performing a certain way, you know. So, just becasue it is *adequate* in my mind does not mean it is fixed. I have twice the power I used to have, yet only use a third of what I previously used....Ughh...I'm ranting.

i too just bought a new 12inch powerbook 1.5ghz. WIth tiger. Have had two moments where live has frozen up and i couldn't even force quit - i had to reboot the machine. I did a repair permission and when i loaded live it booted up the demo version - and i don't have access to the internet at the moment coz i'm not sure how to set up the connection (get my geek brother to do it). tried to unlock it offline but the code i downloaded is way too long to fit into the boxes.......wow you spend $2000 on a machine $700 on a software program -and they don't work. Anyway i don't think it is live coz it is doing the freeze thing everytime when i use it with windows media player for mac.

:( :( :( what a sad day....

i ahve the same computer and it is behaving almost the same, i upgraded the RAM to a gig stick and it was better but i think there are issues with the core audio, and i dont find it friendly with live 4.

I have the same problems with my new powerbook.
I heard someone say it has to do with WAV files on a MAC.
Converting to Aiff would solve the problem.
Anyone heard something about this?
