I've been requesting looping for unwarped clips since Live 1, but might as well do it again.

I'm positive that I have got "unwarped one shot" selected AND long sample warp set to OFF.

still, a newly recorded clip gets warp turned on by default.

does this not work this way for other people??

that's definitely not how it should behave and I just tried it and got the same behaviour - so you have found a bug!

so if you have a minute you should put a post in the bug forum and link to this thread, otherwise I'll do it later

in fact this must have been introduced with Live 6 because I'm pretty certain I've done plenty of unwarped recording with L5

i'm pretty sure i get warped turned on by default in live 5, so i don't think it's just 6.

It would save Cpu for normal audio playback as well.

I'm not sure what's getting missed here but "repitch" mode is really no different to looping unwarped - in fact that's exactly what it is

if you want to change the tempo or pitch then you have to timestretch

and if you dont then choose repitch mode

the only things I can think of that you dont get are things like sample offset envelopes and things like that that can only be done in beats mode

but straight up looping without warping is exactly what repitch mode does

no not at all

try it

beats mode sub divides everything in beats

if you have a synth or vocal you will hear choppiness

there is a fundamental of digital audio to understand here:

repitch mode operates on a very basic level of speeding up or slowing down the sample rate while the output sample rate stays constant - which means the audio quality will not change one single iota because there is absolutely no timestretching involved

beats mode is at least some kind of timestretching algorithm

the recent point of beats mode being better was relative to other warp modes like tones or texture - but both of them are still a kind of timestretching

repitch on the other had is the digital equivalent of a pitch control on a turntable, all it does is plays the sample faster or slower

so if you are using a sample that you only want to loop and dont want to timstretch or change the key of then using repitch is akin to looping without warping
