Exactly! my bet is once Live is dual processor optimized, you get the extra boost of the second processor. Now duals never add up to full scale, so a dual 1.87 of Centrino style chips would roughly equal a single 3Ghz Centrino chip! Remember how well a single 1.6 does in the Live test! Twice almost as fast as the 1.67 powerbook, so what with the extra boost from teh bus etc. you should see great results.......... when Ableton port to x86 OSX....
SSE is a great altivec type alternative on PC, and apps that use it get a significant boost.

I think that part of the reason apple wants people to dual boot is so that more people get viruses and have to buy new apples. Honestly.

hardware!

SOMETIMES it can!!! My friend got a virus on her IBM a few years back and I swear it somehow wiped out the whole machine, no one could get it to work again....they reinstalled Windows used a new hard drive it was fukked. maybe it was a coincidence but I don't know....they can do weird shit to the computer I heard....

viruses that hack into the BIOS can do this but they are rare

It happened to me (I believe.) I had an aquaintance who now works for NASA look at it. Completely toast. Though he was more interested in pretending he's Jim Morrison with his new PHD than helping some young punk like myself!
Regardless, I swore I would never own another PC, worked two fulltime jobs at the same time, bought a dual 2g G5 in cash. Mmmmm.

To obtain a new BIOS chip, contact your motherboard manufacturer and give them the model of your motherboard. For a relatively small price ($10-15 plus shipping) they may mail you a new BIOS chip.

Any specululation as to how Live will run on the intel imac before Live is ported to universal? It would be running in Rosetta correct? So it may run slower than on the older G5 single processor imac?

Indeed...I did some searching on other forums as well and found that Live should run just fine on the intel imac. Much faster than my present G4 either way. Once the Abe's get Live ported over it should be smoking fast!

I was at the Mac store this evening and they said they wont have the new imacs until late January. ha. Of course they are already shipping from the online store. Meanwhile there were customers there apparently unaware that new macs were released. I doubt the sales peeps would mention that either.
How pissed would you be if you bought the old one and then realised a new much faster model just came out for the same price.
