i was mixing a track today where being able to mute parts of 6 channels of Drums and 4 channels of x-tra percussion would have saved me a mess of time, between having to select mutes for each channel and then lining up the envelopes it would have made my day a lot more efficient.

another vote for GROUPS!

please please please please!!!

ableton is a fun program to *play* with but i can't actually work very efficiently without groups... leaves me stuck with pro tools...
and sad.

this would be such a huge help to my workflow...

saddly having my old MAC die, and having come from the world of Apple's Logic and using Live far less than the for mentioned, since my MAC died and am presently using a PC (PCs and Microsoft's Windows are truly the work of the DEVIL himself) and using Live more often (I HATE Cubase, FL Studio is a toy, admittedly a fun toy, and Synapse's Orion is a joke, Sonar has a promise that i have managed to work with and thank god for REASON), i truly miss the option to group/folder tracks, to create a master MIDI track so to say and have lesser MIDI tracks feed into this track, even just to group multiple tracks together and only to further Freeze that grouped/folded track is something Ableton should add in a future version, as grouped/folded tracks are one might call little compositions within a greater composition allowing for more flexibility and inheirent organization within the DAW and the ability to preserve of CPU (you can freeze tracks like this in Logic, every track within the folder is Frozen) resources which is greatly needed as one work becomes more complex as well as larger in size not to mention the greater and greater taxation that newer plug-ins place upon ones computers CPU...

it needs to bee added and added hopefuly with the next version of Ableton Live

r...

p.s...
if this can be done is some other way than the obvious please post it, because i have played and read all i can and haven't found what i am looking for...

Also perhaps create rack from selection?

On a related note - no one has mentioned the term "solo isolate", another universally implemented feature in all other DAWs. Abelton has it implemented right now that you can solo isolate a separate dedicated FX track, but that sucks. If I assign kick/snare/hat to a group/aux track (using Pro Tools terminology) as is possible right now, I should be able to command-click the solo button on the group track to solo isolate it - which means it won't mute when I group other tracks (like the kick/snare/hat) - so I don't have to muck around with solo'ing both the kick and the group track in order to hear it, and I'm not forced to use an FX return track in order to use the solo in place function. It was stupid to implement SIP for only the dedicated FX return tracks. Solo isolate should be applicable to any track, like it is on every other console or DAW on the planet.

Implement grouping so that it can be applied to clips, in arrange or clip window, with option to have group control faders/pans/solos as well. Groups should also be easy to turn on and off, and easy to edit (add/remove a track/clip).

See Pro Tools 7.3 functionality for the proper way to implement flexible grouping.

Please Ableton, give us the basic stuff that makes a DAW usable for mixing and producing tracks.

Hi,

What do you mean by that?

Just for the sake of clarity (talking to bry2k too here): better to keep one wish per thread, as otherwise it may get lost and un-noticed by our very special wish sniffer agents! :)

Amaury

I really don't want to water down my original request. I've thought about the above rack idea and realize some major issues with what would happen to clips on tracks that get turned into a rack.

I'm really glad to see you guys reading this! I'd say that the illustration on page 1 is really my most wanted request.
