hirsuit, sir. (sp?)

I just remember going to see him live mebee 6/7 years ago, and the impression of him was of a genius hairy fiend... who played kbds too.
granted he's definately had an advancing forehead the last few years.
Now Steven Wright, he's bald. :D

And anyway, you've got the alpha, and I haven't, so I win on sympathy, nyah nyah stinkfinger nyeerrhhh!

<edit>I think we should stop OT-ing this nice thread now dontcha think?

My 2 cents.

I've got the part troll DVD and it is one of the funniest things in the known universe

theself confessed "Klingon motivational speaker"

There are some things in it however which dont mean anything to people who've never lived in England

Like the stuff about Argos - so funny if you know about Argos but probably quite bewildering if you dont - "the laminated book of dreams to catch the tears of joy....so many beautiful things ...I cannot posess them all..."

a few questions because my brain is fried after working all weekend

"Feedback routing needs to be handled by Live's delay compensation algorithm"
I can't imagine the feedback loop.
In my mind a Session absolute clip would work like this - arrange record would copy absolute data into arrange clips , when arrange plays back session clips don't. When a change is made to the session clip and the 'back to arrange light' is lit up - the session clip plays. Currently with relative session there is interaction with arrangement absolute values - but in this case (session clip set to abs) there would only be the session clip data.
I cant see where delay compensation comes in there, as it actually seems simpler to me than the current system!

"It'll probably be a power user feature. Because it might seriously mess up Live with all these remote control surface options"
As far as I know the various controllers work a bit like this (I may be wrong) : Hardware sends midi data to live - Live applies routing template according to RemoteHardware selection - Live performs a little 'per track' juju .
I can't see the issue in there.

If a session clip is tagged as 'abs' then any incoming midi data should be absolutely assigned to its assignment, without refering to the baseline of arrangements values. It seems to me that regardless of where in the midi routing structure the control signal comes from if the clip is set to 'abs' (effectively 'ignore baseline') then the conflict isses are nominal.

I'm mainly perplexed at the reference to delay compensation though, I assume you dont mean PDC, but rather latency compensation. Still I don't see how this figures any more than it does at the moment.

Once again - in my understanding of an Abs Session Clip - incoming midi data arrives (cc127 value 056) the track writes that data to the clip, the clip is set to abs, the track routes cc127 directly to its mapped parameter without refering to anything else. If a rack or macro is involved the track 'filters' CC127 through that macro before absolutely applying it to teh assigned control.

Upon recording to arrange the abs values contained in the session clip are simply recorded over to an arrange clip.

I must be missing something large and obvious.
:?

I don't understand it well enough yet to argue methodology, but I sure would like to see this feature added... especially with the new racks/groups it will be just begging to be used. Those 8 macro controls, so carefully connected to various sounds and effects, will be so sad not to be able to be used in session

The only other thing I can say is, I am so happy all my synths (besides Operator) have their own midi learn!

This omission, plus the possible lack of AfterTouch in Live 6 are insane!

:?

What can we do to convince the Abes to add these simple but so important features to Live 6?

Well, looks like I'll have to keep wrapping all my VSTs in Energy XT. It's a shame how I barely ever use any of the Ableton instruments / effects when I'm jamming in session view....

This glaring omission will basically make the fancy new instrument racks and "sampler" useless with my workflow... Sorry Ableton, you may have lost potentially $300+ from my pocket!

*crossing fingers it will make it into a 6.x update*

Hey folks,

I agree -- nasty omission.

I use a couple of Nord G2's and a RS7000 to sequence/control my clips/scenes.

Now just one "Shaun of the dead " reference and we can stop hijacking this thread, make a new one and start going over the carreer of Ricky Gervais with some automate CC's requests here and there

I've only recently seen extra's... It's the bomb...
Thats really what i live on: Music, Live and loads and loads of british comedy /american satire...

I just visit this board to reassure that i'm sane (enough)

Anyway. Record bloody CC's in session :!:

Necro bump

It was pointed out to me recently that I have become lax in continually mentioning this.

Anyone else think Live ought to record automation in session?
