you realize, of couse, that the real problem in much of the world will shortly be underpopulation? very few places are above replacement rates anymore, which means the ratio of young to old is going to be incredibly low. most countries want more people.
you also realize, of course, that very recently, people were predicting that we'd have too many people to feed by 2000, it would go all mad max on us. turns out, it's gone the other way (things better most places (for humans that is, i don't claim to speak for the animals)).
