So, couldn't you just start a project in Live, and finish it in Logic?
yes you can, and that is what i do more and more and more... it works great and gives me the best out of both worlds!

Don't get Logic. You'll be so torn between it and live every time you go to start a project!
I have them both, and I got komplete 3 last year, to move completely over to Live and PC, but I just couldn't do it. Everything I make in Logic just ends up sounding great, but ableton is more fun. But Logic is so awesome. but ableton is fun. but Logic..... bla bla bla.
I dunno. I like 'em.
i agree, except i say: DO get logic and live!!
here was someone saying express is not worth it because pro is so much better... yes pro has a lot more to offer, but still express for the pricetag of 300 USD is a steal and amazingly good / efficient.
(i think it has by far the best value for money ratio!)
of course if you can get pro, no doubt!, but saying express is not worth it, is absolut rubbish in my opinion!

LOFA, you've convinced me to start using logic as final phase of production. that's one of the things i was missing in laptop production vs. old style recording studio -- you don't have the rigor of multiple environments, where you record things at home on 8 track, then rhythm tracks somewhere, then go off to another place for vox and guitar overdubs, then somewhere else to mix, then to master, at each stage getting a fresh listen to the material in a different environment. can be frustrating, but forces you to reconsider what you've done with songs, how they're produced, etc. i think moving to a different program at various stages may provide some of the same effect. thx for your comments (now i'm thinking about getting some mastering program, too, rather than using t-racks).

See this is where I would totally disagree, not that Express is bad, but at the same price range you can get full blown versions of SX3 or Digital Performer 5, Apple offer no competitive upgrade, while Steinberg and MOTU do. Pro is great, I own it and use it, but SX3 and DP5 are much better than Express, and DP5 has no dongle.
I really like Logic, but seeing people make like there is no other choice on mac besides Logic or live... In many way DP is better, and it's only a matter of waiting for the Universal Binary before I upgrade to DP again.

What's in favor of DP over Logic? I've wanted to try it but no demo.
