It cannot cure mental insanity (in my case) but it can help a myriad of physical ailments, and prevent many from happening in the future, and it is just good karma, and the animals will thank you, even though they will still kill them for someone else to eat, at least it wasn't you, and at least you aren't contributing to SO MUCH NEEDLESS PAIN AND SUFFERING AND WANTON MURDER.

That's like the deer hunters here in Pennsylvania's argument that if they didn't kill deer they would overpopulate and there wouldn't be enough food so they would slowly starve and so by hunting them you are giving them a merciful quick death.
