The reason they were put on the island was because Battle Royale was a project initiated by the government to prevent youth disobidience. Nothing to do with coming from broken homes, and everything to do with painting a picture (however unrealistic it might've been to you) of the totalitarian mindset.
Well it was a good movie, no doubt. I just thought the plot was thin. I bet the book opens that up though. It was pretty ugly to watch you have to admit. in the way that Wolf Creek came up close an personal on a sadistic torturer, the double crossing and desperation in Battle Royal was out of hand sad.

this really is a daft thread. begone the moaners!

Agreed. But I must point out, your methodology is flawed. The poll should ask "Do you love The Last One?" yes or no. Technically, everyone would have to respond yes to prove you right. And then, you'd probably have to define what love was, for it to be empirically sound. And don't stop insulting people now, just 'cause you've put a poll up. Are you a politician?

I'm 6ft 3, extraordinarily strong and most vicious when angered. So, given your first instinct is violence, I am sure I can deal with your "intelligence and emotional depth" if required; though it is not my preference. Funny how right I am about the nature of people on this board, you moronic fruitcake.
6ft 3 ? --- Me too..., so I am probly just as strong.

If you knew F*ck all about violence you would know that height, size and strength are not that important.

That is what makes me DANGEROUS...

Get off the steroids --- get back on topic
and show some respect for other peoples minds.

Well I haven't read the book, saw the Sequel though, didn't think it was as good as the first.

I can deal with blood and gore fairly easily, pretty desensitized to it. But any scene where someone is in a confined space, I get jittery. Remember Die Hard? The part where Bruce Willis is climbing through the air vents, that gives me the willies!!

GOTH VOICE
Look at this. Another tortured soul.
Another life of pain. Hey Raven, check
it out.

STAN
Butters?

BUTTERS
Oh Uh hey, hey Stan.

STAN
What's the matter with you?

BUTTERS
Well, mu mu mu girlfriend broke up
with me.

HENRIETTA
Did she step on your heart with stiletto
heels?

BUTTERS
Yeah. It sure does hurt.

GOTH 2
That's cool. I guess you can join up
with us if you want.

GOTH 1
Yeah. We're gonna go to the graveyard
and write poems about death and how
pointless life is.

BUTTERS
Uh, uhm no thanks. I I love life.

STAN
Huh? But you just got dumped

BUTTERS
Wuh-ell yeah, and I'm sad, but at the
same time I'm really happy that somethin'
could make me feel that sad. It's like,
ih ih, ih it makes me feel alive, you
know? It makes me feel human. And the
only way I could feel this sad now is
if I felt somethin' really good before.
So I have to take the bad with the good,
so I guess what I'm feelin' is like
a, beautiful sadness. I guess that sounds
stupid...

GOTH 1
Yeah.

STAN
No. No, Butters, that doesn't sound
stupid at all.

BUTTERS
Well, thanks for offerin' to let me
in your clique, guys, uh but, to be
honest, I'd rather be a cryin' little
pussy than a faggy Goth kid. Well see
ya, Stan.

STAN
He's right. I don't even know who I
am anymore. I like liking life a whole
lot more than hating it. Screw you guys,
I'm goin' home.

GOTH 2
Go ahead and go back to your sunshine
fairytale!
