Well from my personal experience with them, they are sort of a mess right now as far as the business side goes, but the product is straight. I emailed them and had a very odd, and eventually rewarding experience trying to get an upgrade to the recently released Universal Binary updated Wladorf Edition software package of PPG, Attack, and D-Pole.
They said the only way they could do it was bank transfer, which was too expensive, drove the price of the upgrade to more than you would pay at Thomann for it new?!?! I declined, told them I would buy elsewhere, and the next day it arrived in the mail?????
So I emailed them and they sort of laughed about it, and said a check from me would be more than fine, thanks for being honest, it's just really crazy around here etc.
The software itself is perfect, nice to have PPG and Attack on the macbook! So whoever is in charge, they do good software, and suck at the marketing/business part. :)

I think one of the releases will be the new Korg Thought Kontroll.

true, but didn't the original Q stir up just as much spectulation way back in the day? (i'm too young to know - i was too busy listening to Bush or something  )

also true, it seems. which is good and bad. kind of explains why they disappeared, and it's the same reason they make such good stuff. bob moog was no kind of businessman either, that's why he lost control of his own name, but look at moog now.

edit - i want some blofeld

Hmm, just in case you all missed it...

Well, I heard a vicious rumor from an inside source that Waldorf was bought by M-Audio. I hope that's not true, and I can't confirm that, but I can almost guarantee that at this NAMM show M-Audio will be showing their version of the Access Virus keyboard which they aquired the rights to. It will be based on the Virus A engine shoved into an Oxygen 8-like controller and should sell for under $500. That's my prediction!

I just thought people would be more interested in a sub $500 Virus Keyboard. (I saw the plans for it hanging up in a Product Manager's cubicle during a recent tour of their Irwindale office!)

That would be dope! I have no need of another mixer, but would love a dedicated A&H xone style dedicated controller!!!

Now we are talking!

Between this Allen and Heath and the slick little (actually NOT little) Vestax VCI controller we are onto something here!

The Allen and Heath will tip the scale at about $1000 American dollars but build quality does go a long, long way... interesting yo say the least...

Yawh. Sorry, but you can buy a virus B keyboard on ebay for that price, which would be better build quality than anything M-Audio could ever concieve of.

And that's what I was wondering, how people felt about it. Apparently the street price they will probably go for is $299, but still, it's M-Audio. Can't tell if that'll be a good thing or a bad thing yet but I agree with you...

Based on this picture

Image

The new Clavia board looks like some kind of dual manual thing with weighted keys. So probably an even bigger version of the electro in a fancier cabinet to look more like a rhodes or an organ. If that's what it is then it's a pretty weird move in my opinion.

On the other hand we had better fucking see LOGIC 8

I mean come on korg, make something new and interesting for a change. They been humping the prophecy/Z1 technology in their synths for ages.

Yeah that would be cool, but this time I'm definitly waiting until I hear reports of it's stability before jumping in. At this point Live, and NI are the only two I want to "public beta" for anymore. I was definitly burned by early buggy Logic 7, big time, but it at least gave me time to learn Live.
Also, not sure if I'm ready to pony up $299 for a new version, unless it can send MIDI from Reactor, GURU etc. to other MIDI instruments, has a comprehensive audio editor, and improves folders, the Transform window, and a few other things.
more than likely they will includes some Melodyne rip off, and more Apple Loops...

Personally I'm hoping Ableton announce an improved MIDI editor, and Arrangement window! :)

I'm kinda thinking stale dude will get his slicer from ableton this time around.

I'm also thinking we'll see some minor midi improvements and we'll all be wishing for more.

we'll probably see some lfo controllers or something but they won't be everything we dreamed about.

most likely we'll have automation curves though and that'll be sweet.
