I haven't tried to make my own map with the universal yet, but I just wanted to say,
Damn! the section about changing plugins with the controller, and each one having their own map saved individually, wow!
getting closer and closer to some of the dreams I've had of almost completely transparent controllers that allow greater creative freedom.
very nice. Oh and the new manuel for the SL is about 1000000 times better than the manuel for the original automap. It is much clearer and well organized.

The new Automapping is very good, and you're right about the manual, much better than the old one. The thing that really impresses me is Novation's attitude towards their controllers, they're really pushing them and the software to get as much as possible out of them - a lot of other companies would simply sell you the hardware and software and leave you to get on with it the best you can. With the new Automapping I feel like I have just bought a new controller with much more functionality than the previous, only this one's cost me nothing!

My automap OS didn't update correctly on my SL. According to Novation I now have to send a sysex OS update. My SL isn't showing up on my computer to send the sysex (maybe because there is no OS on it). The only screen I can boot my SL into is the "waiting for operating system update via midi"

Novation is saying I have to send the sysex from a different midi device to the SL.

Does anyone know of a way to send sysex from a BCR2000 to a SL 25? I can do this with the template editor or midi-ox but I can't figure out how to get the BCR2000 to send sysex. Does anyone have suggestions on this? thanks!

If you download one of the sysex programs like Bome's SendSX, you should be able to select the BCR2000s midi in/out in the program. Once configured, you should be able to push the data out via midi. Best of luck!

Problem is that he doesn't have a midi port on his computer, he has to go USB to a device that has midi then onto the SL.

Yep, I understand. Here's what I would do: USB to BCR2000 Midi from BCR2000 to Remote SL.

Exactly, no midi port on comp.
I have to go from the computer to midi device via usb, then send the sysex via midi to the SL. I have the BCR2000 showing up and selected as midi device in midi-ox but I can't get the file sent from it to the SL :(
I keep experimenting, but maybe there is some BCR2000 guru that would know better?

I started a BCR thread, people do use the MIDI out from it, it can be done, it's gotta be a mode thing. I've never messed with mine but I'm in the same boat as you. I'll be home in a few hours and look into it, this has been bugging me.

OOOOOH! This automap universal thing is GENIUS!

only one problem though:

when I was done editing a mapping for a given plugin (in this case Zebralette), once I set that mapping as default, 2 things happened:

1. the zebralette GUI disappeared. Had to close it and reopen it to refress the GUI
2. I lost audio from Live. Had to restart it.

:(

Anyone else having this problem? I dont mind the whole having to close and reopen Zebralette to refresh the GUI but losing audio and having to restart Live every time I save or set a mapping as default deserves a big thumbs down.

Other than that, this thing is SWEET! Hopefully some of these bugs will get ironed out soon.

i had problems with miniTera

1) loss of sound, restart Ableton (had to force quit)
2) out of sync on arpeggio - it starts fine then losing sync

i remember when i had KORE, i had this out-of-sync problem. By introducing a middle man (in this case Uni Automap), delay problems appeared.

I might leave out the Plugin automap for now and simply get my plugins into Racks and manage them with the endless knobs. I rarely need to control a plugin with over 8 knobs and if I do, it's at the 'mucking-about' stage where I'm happy to do so with my mouse anyway.

I'll sit this one out for a few months until i see an update and then re-consider
