is it really worth spending more for mac?

Just remember, if you keep repeating something, it will sound true if you say it long and loudly enough: "PCs are cheaper, PCs are cheaper." Even if you get someone giving you examples otherwise, just ignore them and keep shrieking your mantra. Facts should not be forced to fit into your fantasy land.

Enjoy running 8000 loops simultaneously. That's a true measure of creativity these days anyway.

Oh, I finished my fourth CD last week and I'm on the artwork now. On my Mac. But how can that be? Apparently, people with Macs are incapable of doing anything with them. Something's not right here...

Dunno if that was aimed at me (Im the one that paid for the new power supply for my mac)

I use a MAC because I had to (Logic). been using one full time for a year and a half now and I can do the exact same thing with a PC.

The difference between a PC and my mac is that the former is more powerful and about half the price.

However if your like Jamie F and feel that Apple are doing you a lovely service by selling you the exact same bits you would find in any PC store for double the price then go ahead.

I state a fact about Macs, nothing more nothing less.

They are less powerful and much more expensive....period.

And I own 2 of them

The difference between me and 90% of mac users is that I dont blindly see them as the holy grail of computing.

:)

If you're paying double the price, then you're not shopping around. Whose fault is that?

insults?? WTF? You are the king of insults, ALex. This dude just stated his experience as facts, but you can't ever except someone else's personal experience, you have to constantly question and ridicule to make yourself feel better, while at the same time complaining about Live performance on your crappy box. Your view of reality is about as twisted, warped, and grooveless as your "music". Nice shameless self-promotion hijack of this thread earlier, I'm sure your album will be a hit on the dancefloors and radio stations   I bet you used photoshop for the artwork--guess what, it works great on a pc too!

At least I'm making music as opposed to comparing dick sizes as to whose machine is faster than the other.

I just don't like the lies flying around, it's kind of annoying. I feel obligated to comment sometimes.

But now you're a big boy too! Good for you!

Alex, you're doing a great Job of making mac users look like they REALLY care that their's is the best. Very odd behaviour indeed given you're what one might cal a pot calling a bunch of kettles black, no-one's spreading lies or claiming that you're inferior by using a mac

Lies? You can run Live on a stable PC box and get more pwer thrown into the bargain and that is FACT! In FACT you'd have to go out of your way to find an XP based system nowadays in which Live would be outperformed by any Mac on sale.

Oh, Sony are selling an overpirced 1Ghz laptop that somehow is a "comparison". My bad.

Alex, you're a pretentious dimwit. You display it time and time again. Thank you.

That's not in dispute. Quit it.

That's not the only one. Actually among the few "comparisons" I've made before, one showed a bunch of web quotes for iBooks, Powerbooks and a few factory-built Wintels.

There is not much of a price difference, once you start adding the features that the Wintel crowd leave out. I didn't make those numbers up. That seems to be the reality of the situation. You may not want to acknowledge that you're not getting the same deal, but there it is. Sorry!

No matter, you'll buy PCs whatever the cost. Just keep telling yourself that horsepower is everything and creativity means nothing! Live is the only audio application out there! White is black!

I was going to answer this, but better that I walk away. Now it is becoming an insult-fest -- that's all you have left.

No. It's a response to you calling PC users Bills' knob polishers just because someone dares to recommend a system that THEY are happy with. You know, just like you are with yours.

I think you'll find quite a number of partisan responses from PC users in this thread suggesting buy a Mac if it makes you happy. But one mention, on a Live forum, that Live runs better on a PC and you're the first in with the rude remarks and "I know better than you sonny Jim" attitude.

No-one mentioned that using a Mac was less creative, no-one said that one platform is "better" than another, you just take things on another tangent and make things up in your head to justify your own agenda and are first in with treating people as dimwits for DARING to use anything other than a Mac. Some of these comments come from users of BOTH platforms who just want to pas on their experience, you know using Live on both platforms, of how Live runs (this is a Live platform remember?) for the poster and anyone else reading TO MAKE THEIR OWN MINDS UP.

There are PC users that even mentioned about maybe going Mac if other software is also a priority, like Logic. Amazing huh? You give everyone the impression that you'd rather cut your cock off first than say something like.. "Well, if you want to use Cubase and Live you'd probably be better off going with a PC as it runs better over there and is better supported". You'd be in like a shot with something more like... "Go Mac! There really is no better way. You have GarageBand now to choose from, I've never used it but I'm sure it wull be spiffy and suit whatever your needs are (not that I have any real clue what they are)."

Alex. You couldn't be objective if your life depended on it, anyone reading this thread can see plain as day what you are all about. The interesting thing is that YOU can't!!!!

When I have said this?! :?:

I think there are more than a few people on this forum I've helped with answering "objective" technical questions.

I've yet to see you lend a hand. About the only thing I've seen you do is trash me and my music. I think that says it all, really.

Cheers,
Alex
