ok, im not sure i know what you mean by the 'latest api' and i think thats probably due to it not being clear what 'the api' is.

the midi demo contains the (almost) latest version of the MIDI API. i.e. its a layer built on top of the Ableton API to allow you to communicate with Live via midi.

The other 'layers' are things that I havent worked on, e.g. OSC and Telnet, but they all use the same Ableton API underneath.

the real question is what do you want to do?

do you have a specific goal you want to achieve?

mdk, indeed, it isn't easy for newbies.
but implement all of that isn't easy too, I mean: it is normal :-)

by the way, did you plan to make a documentation with all the steps?
I began one, but very fitting with my configuration/desires..

I'd be interested by yours (with all options DecoderJava midi, jar sysex described etc)

I understand how to launch specific clips and scenes using the MIDI demo. Is there any way to change the global quantization or BPM using the files provided with Demo 6?

the monome pages permits to do that...

but by using a developer language, I can say that monome pages in another specialized branch of LiveAPI that extends LiveAPI features...
so yes, it is possible..

but you have to dive in the code to reuse it how you want to

sorry if i'm being a real div here, but is there a nice div friendly LIVEOSC OSX instructions? I'm really interested in installing the API so i can play with apps like PAGES for my Monome, but i can't fathom all the various links i'm wading through..

please all you LIVEOSC API genius's, a quick installation guide and a basic rundown would be really appreciated.. !!

the genius Tom made this on his page about monome-pages.
In this thread, there are about 3 url with A LOT of informations about how to use LIVE API.

I'll probably do my docs asap in order to relay that inside the www.
