BTW - I found the LFO - it's called "midi-lfo-3" - sadly it doesn't say who it was by
a forum search might be in order....

Midi lfo 3(vst and vsti versions in the same pack)
could send cyclic midi CC data to host's internal midi, but also to windows's midi in port (you have to install midi yoke virtual port before), you clould use it with for orion's mixer events and with ableton live!:
how?
1install midi yoke virtual midi port
2 set your host midi in to a MIDI yoke port
3 set midi out plug in to the same MIDI yoke port
4 set plug in "midi out mode" to "to the selected midi out port"
5 don't forget to hit "run" (run off to set others automations)

The
MIDI LFO tool that I wrote is available for
free download from my website. The instructions are also on the site. It's been out for a while and is in use worldwide. No one has reported any problems.
It acts as as though it were an external MIDI controller sending data into Live. You can have multiple instances running at the same time on any MIDI channel and for any CC#. You just hit MIDI learn while it's running and click the parameter you want it to control. Couldn't be easier.
It's quite powerful, but simple too. PC only though, sorry!

Brilliant! I also love Outsim's VST port, so if you could please export this as a VSTi synth, that would be ideal to use in Live via midi yoke.. This is great, thanks!!!

I don't personally need an lfo, but there is an inherent problem with "plugin" or "standalone" 3rd party lfo systems; their signal doesn't mix with the input from, say, automation or a midi knob. They overrule, making them somewhat useless.
for it to truly work it needs to be a native solution.

It doesn't make them somewhat useless, they are good answers to a different question to that which you yourself are asking.

you're right, the word I was looking for was more along the lines of "crippled". It's the same with the tricks we did back in the day where we'd record midi ccs into a midi clip, and then loop them back into Live. While it definitely works, it will remain a dirty hack compared to the possibilities of a native solution.

It's limited in some ways but it's actually quite cool in a lot of others.
But listen, some of us have spent months of time learning programming languages and coding apps in order to produce these 'dirty hacks' for our fellow musicians (that's you) to use (or not) for free in achieving their musical aims. A bit of support rather than sniping would be a worthwhile thing.
