I haven't finished anything in ages! ;-)

Lott of people have this problem.

So the best new feature in live 8 will be:

The *Finnish A Song locker*, any new song started will lock for 3 months, it opens auto in live, you can't start on any other songs :D :D :D
:D

but see to be honest I don't mind keeping music in a kind of permanently evolving state - I think there inevitably comes a point where you just feel it's ready and it's time to commit, and I think once you have reached that stage then committing to disk is not the bit that takes long as it enters the realm of engineering and is a lot more

I think you want to keep music creative and flowing as long as possible before you enter the 'DAW' universe of mixing/engineering/mastering which to me requires a different way of thinking

I expect sampler to be able to pitch samples independent of time, or I'm burning this mofo down.

(ie. timestretch. C'mon, even impulse has a knob that timestretches. Sampler should have an option to pitchshift samples without changing the speed of the sample playback, like kontakt)

OSC!

that's all i want. i don't even use the computer screen anymore. or a mouse.

ah, and always, improved stability. solid rock performance. no need for new thingys...

well, maybe some modular data stuff eheh

I expect:
-Improved Browser, + possibly improved GUI
-Improvements to video features, + possibly some sort of basic VJ feature
-Improvements to some devices, such as Reverb/Beat Repeat/Racks
-Another premium instrument or sample pack
-DAW improvements. Track folders. Automation curves etc.
-Workflow and Performance improvements, that mean less mousing and more control via computer or midi keyboard/controller.
-Equal amounts of psychophantic praise, and childish bitching in the forum for about 2 months after it is announced.
-Dualscreen support

And possibly/hopefully:
-Improvements to Operators modular capabilities (come on Abes, it's almost perfect!)
-An "innovative" effect device with synced envelopes and possibly midi control (ala Sugar Bytes stylee)
-Convolution Reverb
-Dual/multiple waveform view in Session (for DJs)
-Coloured warp markers, or waveform "highlighting" (for DJs)
-Improved warp modes!

Vista compatibility (even if I'll be buying a Mac quite soon). Ah no wait, that's Live 7 and I said that already, like, for months.

Automation is *the key* to making electronic music sound more alive. Leaving it out of session view is really a shame.

Since that's not going to happen I'd expect to see some more midi control options for Operator etc. Some enhancements to sampler. A few new effects. Maybe some kind of new preset management system for handling program changes without manipulating chain selector envelopes.

I expect a price increase and for it to crash up to 3 months before Live 9.

Man I so want Follow Actions to be updated and expanded! I suspect that they don't see it as being as important of a feature though. :(

What I do expect from Live 8:

1. Ability to assign various parameters in a plug in to the 128 limit Live has. Dom mentioned that was to be their solution already.

2. More dumbed down extra instruments.... yay......

3. Maybe a new warping engine...

4. Hopefully the ability to assign Macro preferences for keyboard shortcuts and MIDI etc. Though not likely.

5. A convolution Reverb, Mastering Limiter or other throw away plug in that could easily be replaced by a more than likely better sounding VST that will have the forum cooing about how cool Live is, even though the new 'feature' does zero to really set live apart.

6. Some announcement that Live 8 fully supports some odd little integration with Max/MSP that will require you to own Max/MSP to even see any benefit from.

I think I'm too jaded for these sorts of threads........

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but I'd like to see the ability to group faders, as well as group scenes in the Session view. Something along the lines of "macro scenes," where one macro scene contains a group of single scenes. I can see a lot of potential applications for this if it's done right.
