Everytime I use the laptops at work that have tap to click turned on, I always end up tapping and dragging things I don't want to. It's going to make using these lappies live a nightmare for me.

Does anyone here use there touchpad live with tap-to-click on? Do you get use to it?

Tap to click is a REAL motherfucker when using DAW stuff.

OK, on the plus side: I really do like the 'unibody' solid chunk of aluminum frame/case. Now that is excellent.

There should be a nice 4/6 portable, stable Expresscard interface for more like $500.

And I should say that I know why there aren't many Expresscard interfaces, it's the same reason why FireWire never caught on, USB 2 is "Good Enough" and "Good Enough" rules the world...

It is taking the audio companies a really long time to embrace expresscard technology... i wish ECHO would release expresscard versions of their PCMCIA cardbus line of I/O's.

Yeah, I'm sure I can used to it, but for live use I don't want to have to get used to too much, y'know?

If it takes me a month to get used to using it, that's a month of either playing out on my old laptop or a month of nervous gigs.

I'm blowing this out of proportion, because I can't afford a new laptop anyway, but it's just another example of the part of Apple's mentality that I dislike.

They always just move ahead with new technologies without thinking of people who don't want to replace all their gear or ways of working everytime they get a new computer. It was the same with the switch to expresscard imo.

you can plainly see how reflective the bezel is around the equally reflective display.

They just copied all those dismally designed giant TVs! Why would you want to add distracting reflections to something that you are trying to look at?

If you watch the video of the new macbook you can see someone's fingers about 3/4 of the way through push it down when they're talking about the trackpad. (on the site)

Cool, thanks. That's a hell of a lot better than tap-to-click. I may yet be won over. Still no money tho.

Not crazy about the optical drive being on the right side instead of in front where Mother Nature intended it to be... It's a perversion.
