running live 6.01...
1) Ableton Live CPU Meter - 19% stock .... 16%!!!! with Echo Mona PCMCIA!!!!! whoa!
2) Laptop/Desktop? Make/Model - Toshiba Tecra M7 TABLET PC Laptop (same as r25) has intel gma 950 integrated graphics...
3) Operating System - Windows VISTA RC2
4) CPU Make Model and Speed - Intel Core Duo 1.66GHZ
5) Amount of Ram / Speed of Ram (if you know) - 1.5 GB SDRAM
6) Soundcard (Stock or add on?, usb/firewire/pci ?) - Stock at 19% Echo Mona PCMCIA at 16%
7) Hard Disk Drive Speed (if you know) - 5400rpm
Looks like Vista is smoking Osx as I am getting same or better results with a 1.66 core1duo than a 2.16 core2duo on osx?!?!?!?!?!?
also, I am using the stock video and audio drivers now... with vista rc2 everything is much faster.. no need to roll back to old video drivers.. they are getting things tightened up for the november release and everything is working like butter out of the box... Wow, and to think I will be dropping in a 2.33 core2duo when they get in the 400 dollar range... should be in the low teens percentile by then... the toshibas and many pc laptops can be easily upgraded to core2duo.. just drop it in...
to meatfestival... sounds like you have a mismatched audio driver.. try to download the latest from the manufacturer...[/b]

Live 5.02
1) Ableton Live CPU Meter % 38-43
2) Laptop/Desktop: Compaq Presario M2000 Laptop
3) Operating System: XP home
4) CPU Make Model and Speed: Celeron M 1.3 Ghz
5) Amount of Ram / Speed of Ram: 1 GB
6) Soundcard : Stock (ASIO 4All drivers)
7) Hard Disk Drive Speed: 4200 RPM
Wow I am impressed with this machine. I purchased it a year and a half ago just to use it for music (no internet!). I only paid $450 for it with rebates, it was the least expensive laptop I had seen. About 5 months later I upgraded the laptop I use for the internet to a G4 1.3. I was considering using the Mac for music since the two main music apps I use are cross platform. Based on this test, I am glad I didn't make that mistake. I love OSX but didn't know the pre-intel CPUs were so slow.

iMac Core Duo
Ableton Live 6.01 demo mode.
1) 19 % @ 512 sample buffer, 18% @ 2048 sample buffer
2) 17" iMac Core Duo
3) OSX 10.4.8
4) Intel Core Duo 1.83
5) 1.5 gig DDR2 667
6) Toneport UX2 (usb)
7) 7200 RMP stock drive
not too bad. I was suprised to find such a small difference between buffer settings. If I lowered the buffer down below 512, I got it to about 200 before breakup, and at that point the meter was at 25%.
