FYI. Developers are still making more apps for the iPhone than the iPad but if they are optimized for the retina display they actually look pretty good in 2X mode on the iPad.

I still don't know exactly what the 'retina display' is or does or how it's awesome. I mean, I KNOW it's awesome, but ????

I don't quite get it either cause the display is only so big so how much awesome could something be?? I mean maybe when you want to zoom a picture to the size of a pinhead but for normal apps? But it seems to make a difference at least when the same optimization is viewed on the iPad.

Honestly, at this point Jobs could tell us that he uses a Transmogrifier to make sounds come out of the iPhone and we'd believe him and love him for it.

It makes a huge difference IMO, everything is just sharper and way more clear. The biggest difference is text, I can read a lot more on my iPhone without feeling any eye-strain compared to the 3GS. I actually just finished reading my first book entirely on the 4, it ended up being a lot better experience than I expected. I really hope they bring this level of resolution to the iPad, it would be a no-brainer for me then.

At the airport on my iPad while my friend struggles with his flip phone and dead battery on his laptop after 3 hours of use. IPad still has 81% left .
