hey guys-
to discuss the test - see this thread:
http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=334690
otherwise this thread, as a resource to check specs gets loaded with pages and pages of mac vs. pc or people talking computers on and on, know what I mean?

Thanks.

Live 6.0.3

1) Ableton Live CPU Meter 30% @ 64 samples 4.9 ms in/out latency
1) Ableton Live CPU Meter 29% @ 512 sample 25.2 ms in/out latency
2) Make/Model - HP-Compaq NX7010 Notebook

Tweaked XP with tuning tips from MusicXp.Net

Use PCI Latency Tool v3.0 to reduce bus latency of graphics and sound devices

Because the NX7010 has an ENE CB1410 Cardbus Controller, the Indigo I/O requires an ENE utility available from Echo set to 'TLT Enable' to function properly

since this has been a solid benchmark for about two years, I think we should keep this test, at least until most CPUs are coming in at around 5-10%. The mark of any good benchmark is that the baseline doesn't move too often.

interesting that "monarkeys" (just 2 entries above) has the same results with a 2.33 GHz Mac (according to the speed he should get 14-15% or so)...

Live 6.05

1) 21-23% @ 512 samples. 27-30% @ 128 samples.
2) Apple Blackbook 13"

I've a bit of experience buying refurbs and I think this one was brand spankers, no cosmetic or system issues at all.Fantastic deal for £699.
I'll post update when I've installed drivers for my Firewire 410 and upgraded the RAM to 2gb and the HD to 7200rpm.

I agree but im sure when mac pros come out with 2xquadcores...or oct core chips come out this test will be completly pointless :D

I cant wait, apparently....intel are aiming for 32 cores on one die by 2012 ....that is somewhat unbelivable but i remember thinking i would never own a computer powerful enough for the music i aspire to make....with multithreading its pretty much there:D

Peace & Hugs
