^ how old is the machine you put Yosemite on? i'm wondering if i want to to bother... or if i should just ride the wave with Mavericks. mine's a mid 2011 model.

@ beats me - you didn't think you would get bragging rights by being quick on the click did you? oh no no no no no no my friend. you have to camp outside like someone not old enough to buy booze or a fucking twat loser with no life and/or too much vacation time (i.e. no life) if you want to be able to claim you got to be among the first of the bug reporters for Apple.

you've got to back a pic-nic basket not CVV code.

Just saw iOS 8 added a new Tips app that will show you a new tip each week on how to use a new feature in iOS 8. :)

This week's tip when you receive a text notification at the top just pull down to respond without having to leave the app you are currently on. :)

I remember that being demoed in the iOS 8 keynote now, but I wouldn't have remembered it without the new Tips app. :x

But did it then open the messages app?? Now it doesn't do that. Once sent it just goes back to the app you were already on.

it's fucking hard core man! not only does it open the message app, it opens it to the person who sent the message AND there's a cursor in the text field so you can like totally send them a message back right away bra! 8O

i don't know what it does after that... the phone only has one button on it... and if i push it twice i can go back to any open app i want. :x

sorry to ruin that surprise for you... if is turns out to be an iOS8 tip next week. :( :x

Now it doesn't open the messages app at all. You respond in a text box in the notification at the top. No need to close the messages app and reopen the app you were in when you got the message. And some apps have to reload even if you exited for 1 second. No more of that.

So my original posts were vague (because I was doing it on an iPhone that sucks at doing anything of length). So on my computer now

iOS 7 message notification.

1. Tap on notification and it opens the Messages app.
2. Type in your response and hit send.
3. Double tap the home button.
4. Scroll over to the app you were in before you responded to the text.
5. Tap that app to reopen it (may need to reload).

iOS 8 message notification.

1. Pull down the message notification and a text box and keyboard appear.
2. Type in your message and hit send, instantly goes back to the app you were in, no reload.

Hope that adequately explains the difference. :x

It's a nice obvious improvement but what about the security aspect?

I suppose you have some lock settings for that?

waiting for "customizable" predictive text features such as "sarcasm" style where every text ends with a :x
