I mean Fassbender of all people. I won't be able to concentrate on anything else except "Well, I hope you don't mind if I go out speaking the King's?"

Ok, so, IF someone used WINDOWS (sorry fanboi's) and would like an ipad for apps like this: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/rstouch ... 40688?mt=8

Which one is ok? No, please be serious :x

599 is really QUITE out of the question. My computer accounts for almost all of my needs. But I see this and think how great it would be to get certain things to control with a finger movement and how much I'd use it.

I see 16 million ipads with 108 gazillion features and options......no matter how much I look, check, surf.....I get almost nothing that gives me information on what/how/why a person would order version "whatever"

It's just like buying a PC... the middle path is usually the best option.

First let me say nothing warms my heart more than people approaching a potential Apple purchase full of anger, resentment, and distrust.

I’ll put in my $1.29 of advice.

For screen real estate I’d go with an Air over a Mini. I think the main differences between the Air 1 (still available to purchase through Apple) and the Air 2 is the 2 has a faster processor and the Touch ID fingerprint scanner. Maybe more RAM. The processor probably doesn’t make a difference right now, but it might a few years down the road. I have an Air 1 and didn’t see any reason to upgrade to a 2. Nothing is choking on it currently.

Color: that’s up to you.

Drive size: I’d go no less than 32GB. 16GB is annoyingly small by all standards and because Apple is evil you can’t just upgrade the drive later or plug in an external drive.

Wifi only or Wifi + Cellular: I usually get the cellular option but couldn’t tell you the last time I actually used the cellular connection. There’s no contract and you just pay for it month to month, cancel or restart anytime. It’s a $129 more just to have that option.

So an Air 1 Wifi only with a 32GB drive would cost you $449 and should have you covered.

One of my best friends is the developer of rsTouch, it'll run just fine on an iPad1 since it's basically a MIDI controller. That said, if you at all plan on running any other music making apps I'd highly recommend at least an iPad3 or iPad Air. A lot of the best music apps like Gadget have grown more CPU hungry as the iPads have gotten more powerful. Most will still work, but feel so underpowered that it will just be a frustrating experience.

Just my $0.02 though.

Yeah, I think people on music forums get inspired to get an iPad when they see some controller app and those really don’t take that much computing power. It’s easy to say initially that’s all you’re going to use it for but most likely they’ll start exploring more CPU intensive apps and will be sorely disappointed that they went with the bare minimum iPad that can just handle controller apps.

Totally agreed, hard to say no when you see Moog synths for $1 and such.

Cook’s goal with the Apple Watch: To remind their overworked and overweight coding monkeys to get out of their chair once an hour, a real slave changer. :x

I thought it was to switch it up and make something useless and redundant for a change.
