Exactly what you would expect a drugged out psycho ex-christian kid to say.

oh lord.....
29 living almost a year in Osaka, Japan. From a golf resort town called Pinehurst, North Carolina in the USA. Lived my last 8 years before Japan in various locations of Florida(which I love)
I've been playing the drums since I was 12.
I didn't own my own set until I was 22 and now I have the exact set I have always wanted, however I can't play it due to the fact I live somewhere that has limited and expensive space.
They have a lot of rental spaces with instruments and PA systems already set up for about ¥500 a person / hour(that's about $5).
I love Japan but my drumming skills are fading.
I work entirely too much doing the only thing I really can do in Japan which is teach English(maybe the only thing any foreigner can do that isn't fluent).
I carry my laptop around with me and try to make my experimental thrash / death metal / industrial music on Live w/o any live instruments. Hard ultra distorted sawsynths for guitars and racks from drums.
I'm married to the most amazing woman on the planet(sorry guys, I got her), extremely foxy too.
I'm working on an album but currently have a whopping zero songs finished. I have about 50 songs / projects / ideas, but I hate all of them(and myself for making them).
I plan to play in Japan by next year.
My goal is to finish my album THIS fucking year, take more time off in the summer and enjoy this fucking great country, and hit the books harder than ever to get this language down!
I love this forum.... mostly lurk from the shadows.

Re: Who are you, really?
I grew up in the suburbs outside of Denver, Colorado. Got heavily into the local punk rock scene (it really does, or at least did exist) in high school as my family slowly fell apart. I started playing guitar at 14 but have never really improved much. Still love to play, though. I was in two bands (guitar player) that never got very serious: irXum and Sex Pole Mayhem.
After high school I moved to the beautiful Pacific Northwest to attend school at a small liberal arts college in Portland, Oregon. Around this time I was introduced to Aceyalone and my love of hip hop began - bought my first set of turntables around this time as well. I studied sociology, anthropology and Japanese (both culture and language). In year three I headed to uni in Osaka, Japan and fell in love. Not with a Japanese woman, but with Japan itself. Unfortunately, I had to return to the US to finish school. My senior thesis focused on a few of my favorite subjects: Japan, minority rights and prostitution (specifically state-instituted prostitution - basically the government pimping out foreign sex workers after their defeat in WWII).
After I graduated college I stuck around Portland for a few years, realized I was in love with my best friend and began what has been an amazing relationship. I worked as a teacher in both an elementary school and preschool. Then, though, as I felt all the responsibilities of adulthood building, I decided it might be my last chance to actually go live in Japan for an extended period. I said goodbye to my girlfriend and headed back to Japan to teach. I started in Shizuoka (near Mt. Fuji), but decided that I really needed to get back to Osaka where I knew there was a big music scene (also amazing breakdancers). In Osaka I worked in three different middle schools and worked closely with a lot of their special-needs kids.
After a year I realized that what really mattered was my girl. She moved down to San Francisco when I moved to Japan, as she grew up across the Bay in Oakland. So then I found myself living in Northbeach, San Francisco. Started work in association management and realized that, although I do love teaching, with association management I got paid better and had the opportunity to travel a bit. Been to quite a few places in the US since then on business, as well as going back to Japan (Kyoto) and Beijing, China. Moved from Northbeach to the Lower Haight and am now living happily in Oakland with my girl, my dog, and my cats.
After moving back to the US I realized I really wanted to record my guitar playing and produce my own beats. Picked up a Korg ESX and cheap audio interface which came with a lite version of Live. Been hooked ever since.
Tada!

Re: Who are you, really?
i was meant to be an artist,,, i was really good when i was young. then when i started to get into 3d graphics some dude piarated me a copy of 3d studio max.
however he also put a copy of acid pro 2.0 on the cd........ 3d studio max never got installed. (i blame fatboy slim, he made it look as if any chump can do it)
so now i cant draw anymore and my future in music is at the tipping point.
tomorrow i go on my hunnymoon. We have been happily married for 4 months and our butiful daughter is growing like a weed. (she will be staying with her grannies for 2 weeks)
to recap: happy person, but wishes I was still able to party all night long and take massive amounts of extasy.
