Using the jack router is sick...
I'm lost between the setting of input/outputs in mixbus, because it seems to be available either in jack os X routing manager, or in mixbus' tracks' output options...
and it also seems that I need to do EVERY connection between the apps, IN the mixbus/ardour app itsel, AND with the soundcard as well... ???
so confusing...
I've made a new topic for that, if you gus had any advice to give to me, that would be really nice...
cheers

Well, you are essentiall;y using exactly the same set up as me, macbook, ultralite, mixbus, live and jack.
I simply could not, COUD NOT get it to work unless I set up an aggregate device first to split the macbooks system audio in and out.
Once I had done that, set up Jack with enough virtual ports. The in Live prefs audio out to Jackrouter, each track to pairs or individual jack ports. Then in jack selecting the aggregate device for audio in and out.
It worked.
not have puter with me at the moment though, can double check it all tomorrow and re-post step by step if you like?

well, agregate device OK
agregate device set for the output inputs in jack
my mixbus tracks receive the individual audio tracks from live (the meters show an audio signal)
BUT NO SOUND IN THE MASTER AND MIXBUSSES.
all is set active for MSTR in the tracks, and some of them I sent to mixbusses.
no sound is incoming in the "right part" of mixbus mixer...
It pushes me on the nerves
thanks for your kind help. I'm done for it today, let's make music with live

there's a new version of Jack out now too, which amongst other things doesn't require aggregate device shenanigans...

No, it is not Snow Leopard only - there is a version for pre-Snow Leopard.

Harrison Mixbus is the fucking bomb! This environment sounds so lush, with great clarity, separation, and depth. It is stupid easy to get a good sounding mix. I cant wait to get my gig tracks remixed with Mixbus.
Ableton + Mixbus is the shit!

Harrison Mixbus is the fucking bomb!
80$ is a total JOKE for what HMB does provide as mixdown WORKFLOW EASE and IMPRESSIVE AUDIO QUALITY.
I just finished my first mixdown with it, and, WOW.
Seems that I'd never had it done so quick and FAT WARM SPACEY sounding only with live.
sorry Ableton extremists, but, wow!
ok, I'm
EDIT: I find it much easier to render the tracks in ableton then import them in HMB for real FINAL mixdown. I tried streaming with Jack, a bit complex, but it works OK. The thing is that doing that you're allways tempted to get back to tweak stuff in ableton live, the arrangement, this or that sound, instrument, etc, and it never ends...
It's also lighter for the CPU. and it avoids the sparse clippings in audio while switching from live to HMB, and also the problems that may appear for the synchronisation of the transport.
Cheers

Are you guys just rendering your Ableton tracks with only their unique effects (No compression, panning, or volume automation) and mixing in Mixbus? Or rending bare bones audio tracks and doing all the automation, effects, etc in mixbus? What is your workflow?

The song I just finished in HMB was a track I've already worked a lot in live since ages.
I rendered the tracks individually thru the master (24bits 44khz), because I had some sidechain compression here and there, automations of filters, volumes, and so on. (well, writing this, I realise that I didn't need to render thru the master, did I ??

)
I just tweaked the faders so as to have wavs not going above -6db for peaks, just my sub bass track was rendered at much higher volume than the others so as to be able to adjust it at will in HMB (the sub in that song was not really present)
I did NO automation in HMB (but it seems relatively easy, for the console parts)
I guess in some future I may use automations in HMB, but I'll keep on building nearly finished mixdowns in live first, because I'm used to Live, I love live, I have a good workflow within live, and also because I'm not at all used to ARDOUR...
It is then quick and easy to finish it in HMB, and have that GREAT WARM SPACEY sound.
believe me, just using HMB faders, EQs, one or two mixbusses with little tape saturation, even not touching the pan pots... you clearly feel something HUGE.
Already in love

Has anyone compared this to say something by AlexB and Nebula?
