Jens: Whoa, that's quite some difference. Care to add some words about the traps constructions as well? Thanks for the pics, nice job!

Ive got apair of 8030,s and some Adam a7,s.
I much prefer the 8030,s they are so much more revealing. The A7's are good but the Genelecs are in a different league in my opinion.

Best

Absolutely, please write some details- there is lots of people who will find it useful. I dont care about theory or what some acoustic materials dealers write (try to sell) on their websites, specially that the material names, brands etc are mostly local and finding what certain thing might be called, brand in another country, continent is mostly impossible. Whatever you used and however you did - it worked well, and from practical point of view that is all that counts. So please as much as possible details, thanks in advance.

Received my Genelec 8030As today.

8O DAMN!!!

Can't argue with these.

It's too early to know about flatness & translation, but the detail and stereo image is great. I'm hearing things I did not hear with my Adam A7s.

and then set them up real proper (positioning is extremely vital especially with those, they kill nearly every other monitor but are fussy like a girl having her period about positioning) and treat your room if necessary, the 8O effect will triple

I set yesterday the bass-tilt @ -2db (after re-adjusted my new traps) and now i listen much much better (especially the low lol)!! wondering if i am the only one!

For my case (nearfield monitoring - monitors on stands) genelec is suggesting bass tilt @ -4 (depend of-course) but i find it too much!

I had everything flat too from the day i bought them, but now im looking forward for a deeper research

I set them flat too but I need room treatment - either way you will need to learn them.

I have the 8040 (has more controls) but since I have them near a wall (theoretical +6 db boost) I have them at -4 bass tilt and -2 roll-off.

Hi,

after listening through Adams, Yams and all I'm about to join the G-club. I'm just really undecisive between 8020 and 8030 for my tiny bedroom studio with 8m2 (that's like 30m3).

I would like to go 8030 to get better low end but am afraid if it is too much somehow. Are u 8030's happy with them?
Also will 8030 be okay with low volumes?

Argh.

Yep get the 8030s, you can always tilt the bass if you find it too much 8)

I have the 8020s and wish I got the 8030s as I could do with just a *bit* deeper bass response and I don't know if I can be bothered with the hassle of a subwoofer..
