just a little speculation, but i think personally that we actually reached a point where major new functions or groundbreaking inventions are much less desired then stability and easy workflows.

as mentioned already reason had never those wow! updates, but was and is still a highly functional and very reliable tool, i hope it stays that way.

to me the whole software market is sick anyway, always something new instead of improving what you got towards stability, reliability and workflows, cpu efficiency.

most of new functions, if we are honest we don't really need, but a crash fest a la ableton shows us how important those other factors that seem so unexiting are!

my2cents.

and i start to respect companies more not taking part of the stoopid race but rather making sure that what they offer can be used with joy!

Neptune.

OK, now I'm officially impressed.

That looks like a real nice implementation of pitch correction/harmony generation.

Also, the clever name makes up for the awful "Dr. Octo Rex".

Both names sound like something from the Transformer movie.

I think one of the next two announcements is going to be something that can compete with Maschine within Reason/Record.

Props don't do hardware... what are you basing this opinion of yours on? it wouldn't really make sense. if it's anything like that, then it would most likely be an upgrade to Redrum to be more like Battery or BPM. of course, i'm thinking in terms of what's feasible for the platform. it's already a sequencer so it doesn't need another sequencing solution. it would make sense that Redrum could be updated to have the ability of handling more samples at a time and to take full advantage of a pad controller as it currently only allows for 10 samples in each instance. that's been my guess since this thread started so i'll say it again.... updated Redrum!!! i don't know what the other major update could be but i think that there are probably going to be a few more effects processors implementedor maybe a multi-effects processor. not just some combinator unit 10 different things.

I don't mean the HW portion, but that of a MPC style software solution...

I noticed two things in the neptune video.

Some sampling input in the hardware interface.

and some new button next to the folder button in the redrum channels, also looks like a waveform(sample)

And I'm sure they have something new to add to Reason 5. We still have 3 more days to find out what it may be.
Record for Reason Owners (includes Reason 5 upgrade): EUR €149 / USD $169
Reason 5 Upgrade from any version of Reason or Record Reason Duo: EUR € 99 / USD $129
Record 1.5 Upgrade from any version: free download
Record Reason Duo: EUR €405 / USD $449
Reason 5: EUR €305 / USD $349
Record 1.5: EUR €279 / USD $299

Nice

well.. i'm a little surprised. i really didn't think they'd bother with audio inputs in Reason. i dig it... seemingly useful shit.. and it would appear that with the sample editor they are only a few steps away from a built-in Rex editor.

it also looks like i was wrong on the Redrum.. kind of a missed opportunity i think. one more day. let's see what they come up with!
