Live 8 gets 64bit support.
Re: Live 8 gets 64bit support.
this is just cool.
Not only the fact that ableton opens to 64bit, but also the fact that so many people has complained for months, ranting posts and some unsatisfied user letting flow their trash talk.
Now everyone can try test and help it making real.
Best work wishes to ableton crew

No! I'll never use the Push-App Live 9 !!!

I didn't realize that Live only used 4 GB of my RAM. I have 8. It runs great now, but I'll bet it'll run even better on 64 bit. Pretty snazz. I hope it hits a full release soon.

Re: Live 8 gets 64bit support.
By the looks of the beta forum, it seems that people on mac are not seeing their VST folder at all with the current version. Anyone having a different experience?

I believe I read in that thread that people were looking in the wrong Library folders.
Try this:
Try this:
torley wrote:On Mac OS X 10.7.4, I found I had to move my 64-bit VST plugins into my user-specific home folder:
Code:
~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST
aka
Code:
/Users/<your user name>/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST
(Paste that into the Finder's Go menu > Go to Folder to be sure you get the right one.)
They were previously working in the non-user-specific "/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST" folder (note the missing ~ at the beginning). No matter what I tried with rescanning, they weren't detected.
Hope this helps someone out there.

Yeah but that's workaround. They should not have to go in the user folder.ttilberg wrote:I believe I read in that thread that people were looking in the wrong Library folders.

Re: Live 8 gets 64bit support.
I fully agree.
Your statement led me believe you had interest in trying out the beta product, which is expected to have bugs, but did not want to being that you would be unable to access VSTs.
Once it is no longer in beta, things like that will certainly be cleared up.

Re: Live 8 gets 64bit support.
just a lil headsup on status of iZotope 64bit versions of Ozone, Alloy and Trash
The iZo support response:
"These products do indeed install 32-bit and 64-bit versions on 64-bit Windows. Please note however that this beta version of Ableton Live is very new and we haven't tested any of our products on this, especially as it is a beta version and not a full release.
While I will forward this to our developers and Quality Assurance department for their consideration, I would recommend simply bridging these plug-ins or using the latest fully released version of Ableton Live in the mean-time."
Quite understandable as it is just a beta. I kinda get the vibe from iZo's response that the ball is on Ableton's court. No biggie, I'll stick to bridging as everything else seems to work like a dream.
