...the only reason to keep push1 would be lack of money...otherwise its a 200% upgrade...really...it's such a improvement that i'd call it a different controller/instrument, not a "mark 2" version...

Good for you, but I didn't ask for reasons to get a Push 2. Get one if you want it.

i am keeping push1 after buying push2, push1 will stay in my gig bag and be part of my live setup.
i don't feel like gigging with push2 yet, as i don't have muscle memory with it yet.

Hello Pushers.

My reason to keep Push1 might be the trade-in price. It would be fair however by Ableton to put that on 50% or so. I started with Live about 5 years ago with NI Kore 2 (2010) as a controller for Live8. Than came the APC 40 (2012) and the next one was Push1 2014. So I spend a reasonable amount of money within a few years for technological developments with smooth handling easy workflows. Besides a few keyboards and other hardware from NI and Steinberg. This thing goes on and on, now with Live 9.5 and all kinds of packs and other stuff nearing 2016, what in my sequence is almost the same as renewing Ableton controllers.
My reason to make use of the trade-in offer might be the smooth handling workflow. I am not a beatmaking ADHD personality. I am aged 65 years and everything that makes my days activities smoother is welcome. I like the clear and direct visibility of the information on the screen as well as the new browser and the lay out of this Push version.
I support corporate marketing values for a greater cause. However, as the trade-in lasts only for a few months, the share that Ableton takes on its account should be - lets say - 50%. Not 30%. Lets share the temporary split for the greater cause in two halves.
Maybe in the near future we will see (feel) a controller that supports music lovers/makers with eye-disabilities. I challenge Ableton to develop such a device.

With regards,
FB

I've found another reason to keep Push 1 for me:
"When Live and Push are used together, Live starts another process which is responsible for rendering all of the content shown on the Push screen"
--Developers Stephen Kelly, Benjamin Jefferys and Nikolai Wuttke from Ableton being interviewed in Qt blog: Ableton Push – Qt in music making

This would mean my quite weak machine would need to be updated just in order to use Push 2 as this process would need to use some CPU and/or graphics card power. While I need to update anyway at some point I'd rather not do it now. I'm just above what I need in CPU power most of the time so there's no way I can add further tasks to my computer.

that may be your best reason.

i read in another thread that a user was having an issue with Push 2 giving his CPU a 20% spike when switching into one of the editing modes...
i can't remember which one. will post a link if i come back across it.

edit: Subject: Push 2 Live 9.5 cpu sky high
