Why do that when you can have random members of the team remembering a few of them? Doesn’t that get close enough to a meaningful collection of information?

IMO Ableton started with a few very strict UX rules and things like open user assignable shortcuts, multiple edit windows for the DAW were definitely part of that. DAWs like DP, Logic, Cubase etc, have hundreds of commands and Ableton saw that complexity as a hinderance. In some ways they're right. Personally I wouldn't mind it one bit, for years Live used the single keys on your keyboard for clip firing before the Launchpads came out, now I look at how Bitwig has i for Information, b for Browser, e for Edit, D for device and a for Automation etc. etc. It's just about perfect.

This is all done to help impaired users, at least that's what they said about the changes. Personally my grip is just with the documentation, this should be fixed by now.

Still no news about the manual, if i would live in Berlin i would visit them and ask them to do the PDF Manual for free.

Wtf no manual when you've paid the amount it costs is an insult.

I'm really dumbfounded at the lack of consideration. Manual should have been updated as they go 1000% - now it's this unwieldy task they have to scramble to figure out. Months and months of beta testing and changes being made - hard to imagine there's not a dedicated custodian/maintenance team covering the documentation.

Also of note, that whilst we're still waiting for a PDF manual that can be used offline (since not all of us have continuous access to the internet), but also the current online-only manual for Ableton 12 is woefully inadequate as it still has a lot of Ableton 11 specific content: i.e. the Clip Envelopes section 23.1, is specifically referencing Ableton 11 UI elements in screenshots and descriptions.

I really hope that Ableton are taking seriously the lack of an accurate manual, as well as an offline one.
