Are they trying to let as many people die as possible? This is an act of passive genocide if you ask me.

Good article, shocking.

Everyone knew this was a significant danger.

That article illustrates in terms even you can understand, that Not only was this predicted, there were plenty over voices trying to bring attention to it.

And Bush and his cronies blatantly removed necessary funding and support.

Turn on your tv. Even Nancy Grace is calling this a national disgrace.

Even if you dont think that this could have been prevented, there are people who were in the superdome for almost a week now. It is UNDENIABLE that these people have been left for dead, and many of them are now dead or dying. Bush is more responsible than ever.

What I don't get, and probably never will, is how people can ignore these simple facts.

Iraq is in the top five nations on the planet with the largest oil reserves, and of those five, Canada has what they consider low grade crude.

Venezuela almost had a coup a while ago, the US was backing the 'rebels". Venezuela is in the top five.

The other two are Saudi Arabia, our pal, and in deep national debt to the US, as well as heavily invested, and Iran, with whom we are now making moves towards, at least propaganda wise. Seriously, how surprising is it that the new leader might have ties to the uprising and capture of the US embassy?

Scientists are worried about global warming caused by loose environmental laws etc. being responsible for potentially more dangerous hurricanes.

GWB had the worst environmental record in the US when he was governor of Texas.

The main cause of terrorism against the US by people from the middle east seems to be US involvement in the politics of the region.

We invaded Iraq because we believed they had WMD, the UN said they did not, and was satisfied that they did not. We were wrong, they did not have any.

There has been no link between Al Quada and Saddam Hussain, in fact considering Saddam was a Stalin style dictator, Bin Ladin hated him with the same sort of fury that he showed towards the US. The last place in the middle east the US might find Al Quada is Iraq, though now that we are there that might change.

The last is a question. You are 17 years old, and sunni muslim in Iraq. Your house has been bombed, your sister is dead. You are aware that Saddam was a prick, but Shiite
muslims are now the absolute majority, US soldiers almost shot you the other day as you went to get food. You are aware that the US is the largest consumer of oil on the planet.
What would you think? Would you think you are now free? and be filled with thoughts about how your sister would have loved living like you do, if she were alive? or would you think about joining the insurgents?

i concede to what yer saying, and what the link says, but my point was more general than it was specific. :)

lol but whatever.. i'm gonna start confusing myself if i keep talking about it.

at the end of the day, this sucks, and quite honestly, i do think they SHOULD have had more preparation. I just don't like it when the first thing people do is look for blame instead of solving the damn problem..

it's like.. who cares -- what's done is done. let's fix it and remember this.

There is definitely someone to blame. If a person steps up to the plate and "claims" that they have what it takes to run a nation as vast as the USA, with so many complex factors to take into consideration, then lies and leads the people into a war that drains manpower, money, and many other valuable resources like a crackhead spends his check on Friday getting high, and has nothing left for rent or bills...that is gross irresponsibility. They were warned about the levee, and they are still not doing enough fast enough to remedy the situation at present. there should be no people stranded without food or water by now. This is ridiculous. Gross irresponsibility. Basically, the resources and reserves of the USA are being squandered at monumental rates, and this test proves that the "leaders" are incapable of leading. Twice has the US suffered great catastrophe in 4 years due to unpreparedness and neglect, refusal to heed warnings, of it's so called president. These situations are the real testing grounds of "heads of state", and they have FAILED MISERABLY.

Osama bin Laden's been disowned by his family as far as I know... you never seen those pics of him from the 70's (maybe even 80's), clean shaven and in a suit? They're rich business people intimately connected with the Saudi royal family, not terrorists. There was something about one of Osama's brothers being involved in terrorism as well, but the family as a whole is not.

I think, rather than "business people" a more accurate label might be, organized crime syndicate.

And every gang needs a strong arm. The Saudi's are as swilly as their oil, and they and everyone they deal with is out for their own good, no one elses. And they do anything that they need to to get away with it, including laundring millions of dollars to Alqaeda, and then claiming it was protection money...oops, more evidence of organized crime, haha

On the BBC night news yesterday they were talking with governemnt officials in new orleans. The officials in N.O. said that they had already gotten predictions from the US military that this huricain season would be a heavy one many months ago.

But, their budgets for raising the levies were slashed down, due to the need to move yet more funds into the military and anti-terrorist budgets.

Meanwhile hospitals in New Orleans that are tending to less "wealthy/worthy" people are being bypassed to help the more "wealth-able"

Just so sad, isn't it...

what i dont understand is how anyone in their right mind can defend the Bush administration given all the information we have (and a lot that we dont).

Its fucking crazy, makes no sense.

I think the US is heading towards self destruction, from the greed and selfishness of those that hold power.

those of you in the international news world, probably havent noticed this, but the US media has been Publicly Urinating on Bush.

Even on Fox, the newscasters are simply disgusted by Dennis Hastert, and the response of most of the repub power brokers.

I think this will be a definitive turning point for the administration...

I think the one big question is, WHERE THE FUCK IS DICK CHENEY???!?!?!

does he still work for our country?

Never fear, things like this expose the inept very quickly...You know the repubs are taking a beating when they plead to Giuliani to dig them out of their problems.
