What it comes down to, is that max can serve these all these functions. Pluggo is how you create vsts with max. soundflower is another solution... basically, Cycling has thought about all of this stuff... PLuggo is there, so the final product will be stable, and for midi and all the other possibilities, just run max.
Seems a bit many bucks and complicated.
Bidule is 70$ and straight with VST.
Don't intend to say it can do what MAX can do but you got math and midi and VST hosting and flexible routing etc.

Installed the MAX demo. Reboot. Does not show as rewire device in Live.
What?

Im not going to hold your hand through the process.
Read the tutorial.
You arent going to find max similar to any other program. It doesnt necessarily do things the way you expect...
Join the email list, that will provide specific answers to questions that I cant figure out.

Bidule may very well do what you need. BUT, some people want more

Yea, but what.
Seems like a secret society round the holy grail.

Why secret? Computo posted a video earlier today!
For instance computo has an elaborate midi setup, which might not be possible in Bidule, Jitter (which will never be possible in Bidule), and probably a gazillion other things.
I have some modded stuff for looping in Reaktor, which can't be done in regular software. It's ugly, but it's no secret at all!
Point is: It's weird, it's big, it does stuff we need.

It is...we're called the New Max Order.
but, seriously, you'll be shocked at how open max users are...
There is one guy on the emaillist who makes weekly posts, with Jitter examples.
They are really good too. There's no secret, other than that max is the BOMB!

Yeah, sure.
But I'll tried some tutorials and don't get how to rewire or interconnect MAX and Live.
Anyway, think I'll leave it here for the time being.
Thanks guys.

Its like you interconnect anything...
You open live first, and then open Max.
Live is the master, max is the slave...
max can go either, way, but most other programs cannot.
Use soundflower if you're having trouble.
Its really not difficult.

Can't find it as a slave in Live...
Maybe it's rewire engine is not shipped in demo?

conny , i'm no expert but i know that you get the fully featured maxmsp to use - the demo factor is that you only get to use it for 30 days.

really, you have to read the manual...
I NEVER use rewire for max, its of no use to me.
I always use soundflower, it does it just fine, and doesnt differentiate between master and slave.
theres a tutorial, or chapter on that somewhere...
when in doubt ask the experts...the max emaillist.

As a musician I do expect some instant gratification when using a software of choice ... unfortunately I don't have this with Max/msp - PD ... though I do understand the vast possibilities and merits of the said software.
Plogue Bidule (and Audiomulch even more , but this lacks the more basic buildingblock functionality ) has this and that I am missing with the foresaid packages.
